I've been doing some research in the meantime and I'm thinking this was made up as I'm not finding anything about this.
Yeah, I can't find even a portion of this quote anywhere, and it's not in a collection of Webster speeches and essays.

You might be surprised.I super appreciate the help! This probably isn't the usual type of question posted here.
Did this question look familiar? I think you replied to my reddit post too! Double thanks!Yeah, I can't find even a portion of this quote anywhere, and it's not in a collection of Webster speeches and essays.
ME TOO!!!!!!!!!Welcome! I am not even going to say what I thought the title of this thread was at a glance.
Sue it is! Look around a bit. You'll find all types of questions like this asked, discussed, argued over and eventually made into a whole other topic (sort of like this thread!).I super appreciate the help! This probably isn't the usual type of question posted here.
Okay, I don't feel like such a disgusting perv when two other people saw that too!
I looked up Chapter 2 this morning to find the quote you mentioned so I could show it to Steve in context, but that chapter has nothing to do with it. I didn't spend time looking beyond that and don't have it in digital format to be able to do a search. Did you have the wrong chapter reference? As I started The Talisman last night I saw there was a quote attributed to Daniel Webster. It's most of chapter 2 and describes a plaque that has this quote, "From this day forward, know that slavery as an American institution has begun to sicken and must soon die in all our states and territorial lands."
It's said to be from 1838 at the Northern Methodist Conference that had held the first of the great New England abolition rallies. It also says this was a speech delivered by Webster.
But is it really haha? My boyfriend and I are weirdly obsessed with sourcing this quote in the world of non-fiction. I can't find partials of this quotation or anything in Webster's archives.

There it is! Have marked that to ask when he comes in today if I get the chance. He has a pretty full agenda while he's in the office. If he can't remember that quote, I may need to go to Peter but I'm still betting it's fictional.Oh shoot....I did. It's not chapter 2....it's part 2 of chapter 1.
Sorry about that mixup!
You are my angel of information! I can't say how appreciative I am for all your help! Everyone here is awesome! There it is! Have marked that to ask when he comes in today if I get the chance.
