Hey everyone! I feel like this might be a tad strange posting this, but apparently this story got some favoritism among a couple groups on FB and I thought I'd share my real life Dark Tower experience with you guys. It's a bit of a doozy, so bare with me, eh?

The Dark Tower series is something I'll never forget. Not just because, well, the obvious reasons, but it's because it's honestly impacted my husband and I immensely, outside of the story itself.
You see, my husbands father passed away over ten years ago. He and my husband were very close and both of them adored reading Stephen King. His father started reading the Dark Tower series and he absolutely loved each one he read and couldn't wait to pick up the next one. He was very very ill and books were his biggest comfort at the time. It was the highlight of his day.
Unfortunately due to his sickness he ended up passing away before ever finishing the journey to the Dark Tower.
A few years ago my husband found his father's books and immediately began reading them. He was so excited and you could tell he was on his own little private journey through them just like his father had been. My husband normally is quiet and keeps to himself, but would always find a way to chatter on and on about what happened in the story. He was like a kid again.
When he finally got to the last book it was actually really emotional for all of us. I remember watching him slowly close the book and staring off almost teary eyed before excusing himself to the porch. He doesn't get teary eyed. Ever. I think he must have been out on the porch for almost two hours by himself...
When he came back in he remained quiet for another long period before he finally told me

"I finished the journey my father never got to.."

Tears were shed and it honestly struck me so much that I had to read them myself. Knowing this was the journey he took and his dad before him is quite the experience and I don't think any book has ever had an impact on me quite like that. I'll never forget it and I really hope someday our son will as well when he's older.

Thanks for letting me share guys!
