I loved all the heroic characters. I'd say Ben, Mark and Matt were all favorites of mine. It is hard to pick between them, though I'm leaning towards Matt at the moment.

I'd say Mark and Callahan were my favorite characters. I also found Straker to be a cooler villain than Barlow. I liked Barlow, but just wished I got more of Straker as well. I think him and Mark had the makings of a good rivalry after ass kicking Mark gave him.

This seems to be a common sentiment for some books, especially this one- there are so many characters and only so much "time" to dedicate to each (lest it become a tome); while the main cast gets most of the attention (as they should!) I've noticed I'm not the only one here with love for one of the many secondary characters.

I can't really say there is a favorite, but I do have a least favorite: Susan Norton.
I can understand her not believing in vampires, but for her to try and sneak in that house alone was upsetting. I almost wished for her demise because of that, but then when Mark had to escape while Susan was down in the cellar, I really felt sad for her.

I like this painting/drawing that I saw in a horror magazine recently.
I always liked the back and forth banter between Jimmy Cody and Matt Burke. Especially when Matt complains that Jimmy won't let him have his pipe after his heart attack and then calls him a quack.
My favorite section of the book begins when Mike Ryerson starts filling in Danny Glick's grave after the funeral and goes right up until Matt revokes Mike's invitation from his house after Mike has returned as a vampire. Mike is definitely up there for me just from being the centerpiece of my favorite chapter(s).
Yeah, as I was reading I kept sensing Eva's boarding house was the only safe spot for Ben from this creepy little town...what did I know? Ha.
Besides Ben I liked Matt Burke and enjoyed their backstory and their meeting again at Dell's bar.
