Somehow, I never did watch Breaking Bad. Now I'm watching ALL of it. We taped the marathon on our DVR, and watched 30 episodes in two days over the holidays. We were laughing that it made us feel like meth heads, staying up until 3:00 a.m., ignoring our daughter and eating all junk food, saying, "one more episode, one more episode." Now we're waiting for the other episodes to air on AMC, and suffering from total withdrawal. We also have an entirely new vocabulary around the house, like, "Here's your breakfast, bitch," and if I don't comb my hair I say that I look like Spooge's woman.
I do believe he did it for his family, first and foremost. And, then he started to like it. He was good at it and he took pride in that. He took pride in being a bad ass, that he probably never was in his "real" life.Best show ever! I just finished a binge watch of Breaking Bad. This was my first time watching it. I don't know how y'all, who watched it when it first aired, managed to survive from week to week. As soon as one episode ended, I was clicking on the next episode. It was like riding a roller coaster that never stopped. I'm exhausted lol.
I liked how the cartel was portrayed as the evil monsters they are. I hate it when bad guys are romanticized.
I believed Walter's lie. I believed he did it for his family... until the last episode. I'm still not sure which was the lie. Do y'all think he did it for his family? or Did he do it for himself?
The only bad guy I had any sympathy for was Jesse. I thought Saul and Mike were great characters but I didn't have much sympathy for them. Did y'all have any sympathy for any of the bad guys?

As a chemist, I think Walter was very proud and jealous of his formula and that it was in such great demand. He did do it for his family at first but then greed and lust for power took over. Even Skyler got caught up in the greed. What I love about the show is the gradual transformation of Walt from nice guy to scarface. Also, the way the other characters (Jesse and Skyler in particular) changed over the course of the 5 seasons was done brilliantly.
