Some of the throwback jerseys are pretty cool, but I don’t like when they have no semblance to the team of today. Like the NY Jets throwback jersey... It made no sense because it just didn’t seem like my team on the field (although they played just as bad).

I like the old Dolphins logo better.

All of these changes are just to sell more apparel. Expect new designs every few years. What I really hate more than the logo redesigns are all of the different colors they are using for uniforms. Instead of the old home and away format, now there seems to be all of these specialty uniforms they bring out only once.

The new Dolphins logo looks like an airline logo to me.

Now, this is interesting. I've always been interested in the question of how people choose their teams, and the decision to stop following a beloved team and start cheering for someone else. Some people take the simple view of "Cheer for the local team wherever you are," while others go to the opposite extreme and say that you support the professional team closest to the place you were born and you are stuck with them for life.

Scotty, I'd be very interested to hear about the path that took you from the dawg pound to the stripy feline fellas. :) Was it just a simple case of moving house, or did you wrestle with your conscience in the wilderness for years before embracing a new way of life?

Holly, you are very close to being unmoderated. (that means you will see your posts immediately and not have to wait for them to be okay'd). If you want to move around the board commenting, I will be in later and can get them okayed and get you closer to independence. You don't have to, just throwing that out.

...nothing so profound as donning a jersey of sackcloth and dousing myself in ashes.....after 40 plus years of rooting for the Browns-I simply and finally gave up....the frustration and stupidity that the team engendered at last wore me out....and as I am a die-hard Cincinnati Reds fan, I chose to root for the NFL team from that part of the state now.....my wife is a Cowboys fan of long and long, and the one son chose the Steelers....blech......

Thank you so much, Dana Jean. I just want to say how much I appreciate the job that you and your fellow moderators do on this board. It is such a polite, friendly and welcoming forum, and much of this is created by the example that you set. It can't be easy, being a mod on a board for such a high-profile author with such a lot of traffic, but you really do a wonderful job and you have created a VERY warm and polite online home.

I was born in Florida in 1961. The Dolphins arrived in 1966 (I think) and they were about the only pro franchise of any kind in Florida at the time. So I was a Dolphin fan from the start. My earliest memory of being a Dolphin fan is when I got a Larry Csonka jersey for Christmas. He was drafted in 1968 and he was a big deal from the start. I started becoming interested sometime after the Csonka draft.

I am also an Atlanta Braves fan. The reason for the Braves is that we didn't have a team here when I was a kid and the Braves were the closest team we had. The local radio station carried all of the Braves games and I listened all the time. Henry Aaron played on that team and he was my favorite. Dusty Baker played on that team too. If I remember correctly, Ernie Johnson Sr was the announcer.

I've been a Heat fan from day 1. I was so happy to get a team here. There had been rumblings and rumors for years but we never got a team until the Heat. The Heat, of course, were terrible their first couple of years and the joke was, the only thing worse that the Heat is the humidity.

The Bears have been making some interesting moves at quarterback recently. A few weeks ago they brought in Mike Glennon, who has been Tampa's backup QB since 2013, and the talk is that he is going to be their starter. Well, a lot can happen between now and September, but I've got to say that I'm a big fan of this move! Glennon is pretty young and doesn't have as much experience as you'd like in your starter, but he has an excellent attitude, a high football IQ, an accurate arm and he appears to keep his head under pressure. I'm expecting big things of him, and he could be a lot of fun to watch! He also gives every appearance of being a truly pleasant, decent young man, which is really the most important thing in life. Good luck to you, young fella!

They have also just signed Mark Sanchez to a one-year contract... I'm trying not to be too cynical, but finding positive things to say about this is a real exercise in searching for the silver lining! Ach, perhaps I'm being too harsh - he is being brought in as Glennon's backup, and Dak Prescott has gone on the record saying that Sanchez' mentorship was a big factor in his (Prescott's) brilliant performance last year. Still, I can't help feeling that there must have been someone around preferable to Sanchez, out of all the free agents and "just hanging on" veterans in the league!

Are there are Chicago fans here who would care to comment (on either of your new QBs)?
