In Chattery Teeth, the protagonist returns to the convenience store he bought them at,I don't know if he had a sense of deja vu on traveling the road to get back there or if it dwells on that at all..but I can't believe you would have forgotten the teeth.
It sounds a lot like Crouch End but they were mostly on foot in that one..ever read Canavan's Backyard,by Joseph Payne Brennan, that is a short that is similar but again,a walking tale..

I found this when looking for horror short story collections from the 1990s. Category:1990 short story collections - Wikipedia Maybe you would recognize the book you read and we can dig from there. It doesn't sound like an SK story to me, so I'm thinking it was like others have said, in a collection with something else of his.

Hi Do You Love,

I will check the list thanks.

I think it really does sound like a SK story, but its fair enough that people may disagree.

Thanks,

Paul

Let me rephrase. It sounds like something he could have written, but not any of his short stories that I have read are of a driver getting lost and driving in circles to end up where he started. ;-D

And by the way, welcome to the boards!:cool2:

that dollhouse at the end of the street
Hi folks,

Some years ago, I read a short story contained within a Stephen King collection which was about a person(s) who drive out into the country and becomes helplessly lost - driving round for hours and ending up in exactly the same point each time!

I thought the book was SKELETON CREW (which I recently purchased), but it does not seem to be in there?

I wondered, please, if anyone knew as to which book/story I am referring to here?

Many thanks in advance . . .

Best,

Paul David Seaman (UK)

I saw an old episode of Night Gallery with that exact same scenario , it was a guy, hitchhiking , getting picked up by a girl on a deserted highway and ending up in an old country bar, over and over again, but I cant remember what that episode was called or who wrote that story.

Very interesting thanks Maddie.

The driver/passenger did not actually get out of the car in the story as far as I remember. But that was a good shot!

You know, I actually DID see a film once about 15 x years ago where a car/passengers ended up quasi-groundhog-day in amongst the country. I am fairly sure it was an Australian film? I seem to remember it being quite excellent and would love to watch it again!

Ta,

Paul
