We don't get Hulu :teary:

Our DirecTV receiver quit working this weekend and hubby suggested we switch to Dish. I told him I wanted to keep DirecTV... didn't tell him why... He may not have understood why I needed DirecTV's Audience Network channel so I could watch the Mr Mercedes series lol.

I lost all my dvr recordings when the receiver was replaced :(

Oh that completely sucks. I think we have Direct TV! Yes I do (just looked at the box!) When and what channel is Mr. Mercedes on?

I still find it hard to tell what this series will be about, especially since they give so little away. Will it be new characters or characters from the books? What can it add to what we already know about Castle Rock?

With Haven there was the mystery of the Colorado Kid which wasn't resolved in the book, but what's the driving force behind this?

I have the same questions.

So far the cast list only consists of one name: André Holland playing a character named Henry in an episode. You think about Henry Bowers of course, but he's from Derry rather than Castle Rock.

With The Mist as well there'll be enough King on tv. And I even haven't finished Haven yet - although I plan to and am now rewatching Season 2. The first time I think I got to somewhere in Season 3. It's not that I don't like it, but there's constantly new series coming and so many in the horror/fantasy genre, it's hard to keep up with it all.
Often here on tv they start a new series, but don't finish showing the later seasons - only with the real popular ones like The Walking Dead they continue. I think a lot of the other ones don't get watched enough. So you end up buying the dvd's (which is a better way to watch anyway without commercials and things like that).

Too bad they took off SyFy here. The quality of shows on SyFy got real high with Haven, Continuum, Defiance, Dark Matter. And since they show own productions they also kept broadcasting all the seasons.

I think Castle Rock would work well using the Haven format... a storyline for the series and individual stories for each episode featuring a Castle Rock resident or an occurrence in Castle Rock.

I loved Defiance. I kinda went into shock when it was cancelled :( I also loved Eureka.

Now... if you will try to help me get that song about Jackson by Johnny Cash and June Carter out of my head, I would be most appreciative. I love the song but...

I also loved Defiance (Eureka not so much), but I don't think I saw more than the first season. Another series I'll have to buy after finishing the other couple of dozen series I'm watching.
Bates Motel they stopped broadcasting here too, after two seasons I think.

Other shows that are received well I haven't seen at all yet: Penny Dreadful, Stranger Things, Ash versus Evil Dead.

I also absolutely loved the first season of Gotham. Arrow and The Flash I enjoy a lot too.

DANG! I would for sure watch Ash versus Evil Dead... if we subscribed to Starz :(

"A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, 'Castle Rock' combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King's best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland," reads a description from Hulu.

" 'Castle Rock' is an original suspense/thriller -- a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories," Hulu adds.

It's talked about in such general terms. So it's a reimagination of the multiverse from the books? Sounds like it might become real confusing if you read both the books and watch it.

Will it take also characters from the books, like they took Johnny Smith from The Dead Zone in the tv-series and expanded upon his role from the book (the series didn't interest me at the time, I only saw the pilot). Or will it be new characters.
It can also be a combination, of course, in Haven they only took the newspaper guys from the book and everyone else was new.

Cool casting news! And it also gives a bit of an idea what kind of structure the show will take:

Sissy Spacek to Make Return to Stephen King Multiverse in 'Castle Rock'
Thanks for sharing this news. I think this is the next project I'm most excited about. It has so much potential and I like the way it is being described. I'll be happy if the show isn't another Haven but, perhaps, a show with the production value and brilliant writing like Abrams' LOST.
