Keep in mind that this was all before the age of the internet so word didn't get to me until I went in to get a copy of Skeleton Crew (I think) and the book store (B. Dalton) had a big stack of the hardback of Thinner, some with the white paper band announcing that RB was SK) on the same table as Skeleton Crew. I about flipped out with joy!

When I was reading Thinner. My aunt bought the HB right away, and since I was staying with her I started reading it. I kept thinking, "This guy's writing sounds exactly like Stephen King! What a thief!" I was very angry on Mr. King's behalf. :D

It was Thinner for me, too! I was maybe 1/3-1/2 in and I closed the book to double check the authors name and look at the photo of the author, again. Hmmm...the author is not Stephen King and the photo isn't Stephen King, either yet...it was !!!!

I’m in the camp that believes Bachman and King were actually two different people. It was easier to deal with people stealing ideas back in the era of Jimmy Hoffa. I think the bogus author being none other than King was an ingenious story hatched up by Stephen King and Richard Manuel to cover some paid cement shoes handiwork. :a24: ;;D
