....I am pork by products, thank ye very much!.....Yep, we're talking about bacon again. I have a theory that 99% of the SKMB contains pork and or pork products, mainly bacon. I'm not judging, just calling it.

Scott, ye silly heathen, ye left out the '-' between pork and by, which totally changes the meaning of what ye wrote. Oh, wait.........I am pork by products, thank ye very much!.....
Welcome!Late to this thread (just joined forum - hi!) but I love this book. It's just gorgeous. I think it's exactly the right length and I really hope someone makes a movie of it because the world of auras, if done right, would be breathtaking.
Ralph Roberts was the second character that made me cry. Wolf being the first.I thought Insomnia was great. It's one of my favorite novels of all time period.
I read this as a teenager and I almost put it down when I realized the protagonist was an old man. I used to have a fear of aging. It was this book that helped me get past my fear. Ralph Roberts was one cool old dude.
Welcome. While I really like Insomnia, I've always thought it was best left on the page. The special effects would never work.Late to this thread (just joined forum - hi!) but I love this book. I haven't read it yet, but I've heard it relies heavily on DT connections. I'm not saying that is bad, but if that rings true the heavily connected DT novels are usually pretty middle. Ya know? Some love em and some hate em.
So, there is a bit like 'not user friendliness' that comes with them.
I mean obviously all his books have DT connections, but I mean the ones that really get OUT THERE with their references and hints. Insomnia, Black House etc
I agree, mjs. I read Insomnia before DT, and it mattered not. Love Ralph and Lois.Read it first King, then judge..the DT connections are fine and all that but not overpowering,it is really a story of love, faithfulness, heart and bravery..and it matters not a whit that the protagonist is an elderly gentleman. One of my favorite SK stories,it is worn to the point of almost being in the shape of my first IT copy..
Me too...they were both so proud, yet they really needed each other..great story..I agree, mjs. I read Insomnia before DT, and it mattered not. Love Ralph and Lois.

I read Insomnia before I had even heard of The Dark Tower - still enjoyed it anyway, but obviously did not get any of the referencesI haven't read it yet, but I've heard it relies heavily on DT connections. Good deal, maybe you can pick one up cheap on Amazon, if you don't want to go new a used one would be cheap.. That's funny Desperation and The Regulators are the two that I didn't care for too much myself.. and Rose Madder I didn't care for too much either. Funny how people's tastes vary on his books but still we seem to find ones that we really dig..I'll get to it one of these days.
I almost bought it last time but ended up with Desperation and Regulators instead.
