I'm very sensitive about animals and I have a huge phobia of dying, so every time I try to read this book I get upset and have to stop. The weird thing is that I've seen the movie and love it, there's just something about the book that makes me sad and uneasy. Probably won't be reading this one any time soon since my dog is being put to sleep at the end of the week.

It's always tough when you have to put an animal down. Sorry to hear that.

Don't know if I said this in my other post but my dog is suffering, he can't see good, he has lumps in his ears, but the worst thing is that he's constantly frightened even when my mom and I are in the same room with him. He almost died last year and I think it traumatized him. He got into some poison the pest control guy left out and his kidneys almost shut down, somehow they were able to save him but he hasn't been the same since. I kind of hold a grudge against the careless pest control guy who left the poison out even though he works at the same company as my mom and my mom insists it was an accident and that the guy felt bad. She's constantly saying "Don't hold a grudge against him, it was his first day and he has autistic children at home." but I can't help but hold a grudge, he shortened my dog's life and now I have to go through this painful mess. Sometimes I think i'm like Harold Lauder in The Stand; I can't let go of things, not my first girlfriend who broke up with me 10 years ago, not my dad for abandoning me so he could marry the most evil woman I've ever met, and certainly not my stepmom's kids for taking my dad away from me.

Sorry, I don't mean to ramble, i'm severely sleep deprived and I tend to ramble when i'm in this state.

Sorry to hear about your dog. It's very hard to have to put down a fur baby, but sometimes it's for the best. I've had to make the decision numerous times and it never gets easier. I'm down to one cat now and she's over 16 years old and I know that the time is coming when I'll have to make the decision again. I wake up every day and the first thing I do is check on her and I thank the powers that be that she is still here with me. Your friends here at the SKMB will be here for you to help get you through this difficult time.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your fur baby. The part that always gets to me is the child.

Well, I actually have some good news, he may not have to be put to sleep. My mom called the vet and told them what is going on with him and they said the reason he probably keeps jumping around is that his anal glands are full on the inside. And the reason he's scared of the dark is bad eyesight. He has an appointment with the vet tomorrow and they sounded pretty positive they can help him. I guess they'll give him something to help him sleep at night and that will be a big relief to me, I kept telling my mom it was his anal glands but she insisted that it was dementia and after awhile she even had me convinced of that. Hopefully he and I will get some much needed rest, i'm already stressed enough about my birthday coming up and this mess has just added to the stress.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that it turns out to be something simple.

...you would do well to avoid the novel until your atmosphere lightens......this is WAY to dark of a read for right now......

I made it to the part where the story jumps ahead and
Gage has already been hit by the truck; The way it just jumped ahead really disturbed me. One moment you have a reasonably happy family and then the next moment they are being torn apart by their grief.
I'm not surprised King didn't want to publish that one, from what I read of PS there was very little in the way of humor and I think that's what made the book so disturbing. All of King's other books have humor in even the darkest situations (except maybe Cujo) and when you take away that sense of humor things can get pretty ****ing bleak.

Your spoiler is one of the main themes of the book. In an instant.

I really hope all goes well for both of you.

I hope your pup is doing much better!

Pet Sematary is brutal, actually.

I read it back when it first came out. I was visiting my grandparents in the deeps of Appalachia. The forest edge was five feet outside my window, and our pets were buried up that rise. All I could see was my own distorted reflection out that window.

I finished the book around 3 a.m. and left my bedroom light on.

He's doing a lot better, he's just really annoying. The little guy isn't going to like being left alone when I go to the midnight screening of IT tonight.

I actually got my copy of Pet Sematary back recently and i'm debating whether I should read it all the way through or not.
