I started reading SK when his early stuff first came out, I missed a lot of the books in the middle & have since been reading his newer work. I hadn't read Gerald's Game before and I found it scary and suspenseful. The amount of tension built up for a sip of water was so well done that I couldn't go to bed until I'd read that part. I liked the ending (except for Prince) From what I've read on here it looks like Dolores Claiborne should be my next read.

Howdy baggy, one of my favourite scenes in Gerald's Game was the shadow darkened corner. Is he or isn't he there? You'll like Dolores. Welcome and all the best, mal.
That face in the corner definitely gave me the creeps. I liked how for most of the story the reader is wondering whether it's her mind or something supernatural but then it turns out to be real.
