Hello fellow King fans!

Sorry to create another one of these threads.. But I'm driving over 500 miles to see Stephen and Owen in Montana next week, which got me thinking about a signed copy of 11/22/63 that I have in my collection. I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to give me their thoughts as to the authenticity of the signature. This is, in fact, the last gift my grandmother gave me before she passed.. She bought it off ebay (cringe) from someone with a good story, wristbands from an event, pictures etc.. But I'm still wondering if it was traced.. Please let me know what you think. I know its impossible to be certain, but please don't try to spare my feelings..be honest please.

Thanks--take care all!

Ps-i took pics of the back of the title page to give some idea of the impressions and pattern of the signature

oh my--totally gutted--this person sent us the Barnes & Noble wristbands and pictures from the event that looked personally obtained.. I've attached the image, but I suppose it doesn't matter, as who would know better than the man himself?

If this indeed fake--and I have no reason to believe it's not--I honestly cannot believe how ruthless people on EBay can be..totally duped an old, dying lady...ugh!

Thanks for doing that Ms.Mod--it is very helpful...I'm a careful person, but it's a good reminder--it makes me sad, as this is one of the last (and only) link I have to a woman who helped raise me, who thought she was leaving me with a treasure that would mean the world to me, but it is what is. I'm seeing Steve in Missoula... maybe I'll be lucky enough to get a genuine, signed book!

jlfullerton There have been many fakes sold on ebay. The seller could have attended the event, thus having the wristband and pictures. The authentic signature most likely did not need "proof" to sell the book, however a forged or traced signature might only sell with proof ( the wrist band and pictures). Treasure the book in the spirit your grandmother intended it to be.
Enjoy the MT event--savor that night and hold the memory of your grandmother close.

I'd echo what Spideyman just said. Remember the book itself in the spirit it was given. Your grandmother's intent was to do something special for you--that was her gift just as much as the book itself. :smile2:

Thank you! You are all so beautiful... I'm going to be a much more active member of this forum.. so many amazing people!

As a closing note on this--if I want to save up my money and ensure I get an authentic copy, aside from having The Man King himself sign it, is there anyone I can truly trust? I've read on this forum of Betts and hear of Gerald Winters and son... is there any way to be sure?

Can you go back to the seller and inquire about the authenticity now that you have some pretty solid evidence from SK himself that this is probably not an authentic autograph?

Either of those would be safe choices for you to get an authentic signed copy.

As MsMod stated- they are both reliable and trustworthy.

On second thought, they may be opening a can of worms not worth it. Forget I said it.

Oh I've contacted the seller--I wasn't rude or crude.. just informed her what I thought of her for doing such a thing... especially to someone who did not know much about the internet and was very vulnerable.. but it's over and gone..the person made $300 via forgery... won't be the last on ebay sadly.

Thanks all--have a great day!

Okay, so I rotated the picture (upside down) of Steve signing the book and enlarged it. I think it actually might be the real deal. If you look at the 'S', the 't' and the 'h' in his siggy they are the same height as the one in question and the shortness of the bottom stroke of the 'p' is the same, too. This might be real.

I won't say it's not possible that he's not recognizing his signature but I really did show him the enlargement of the signature and his specific comment was that the "g" was not right.

Fair enough. It's good that you said something but even better you are not dwelling on it.

Also, you can report the seller to Ebay. Perhaps it might save someone else from receiving a forged signature. Safe travels on your trip to Montana. Seeing King speak in person is an amazing. He's so funny! And a cutie!

...absolutely remember the gift for what was intended, not the aftermath....there's love in that book that transcends any chicanery.....

This was one thing I noticed.. The day I got it.. That the "g" was a squiggle that look like hesitation.. Unless Uncle Steve suddenly had a hand cramp, it just didn't look right to me
