No you have every right to be upset. Contact the indego/chapters as they where the ones who where part of the event. You could try Simon and shuster Canada and try and find the promo person. Lastly I whould send ms -mod a private message telling her. She may be able to find you a sighted copy. She may also like to know what happens so she can investigate it further. I whould at least let me mod know. That was stupid.
Sounds like this chick just whamted to exerpt her control. And really she does not work for Stephen king only Marsha does..so she in fact was lying.. wow

What was the procedure for claiming the book at the end of the Sleeping Beauties event in Toronto?

All the book events like this that I have attended involved wristbands or hand stamps etc... and one had to either show the stamp or surrender the waistband on the way out in exchange for a book.

At the Brooklyn event for Sleeping Beauties they gave out a wristband and stressed that you had to have it at the end of the event in order to claim a book.

I'm curious about what they were doing at the Toronto event.

Technically I didn't get a signed one- my bestie bought two tickets for the Missoula event and she told me that if she got a signed copy and I didn't that she would give me the signed one. She's not into horror and I don't think she's ever read a King book so it wouldn't be a big loss to her. Well, she got TWO signed copies with her tickets! So, I gave her my unsigned copy and she gave me one of her signed copies. That's what besties do, right? She said she's going to read the unsigned one. We'll see....
....Dan?.....you think she could "gift" Srbo the other book, since he had such a wretched experience?......

Happy Sunday, tet-mates.

I hope that the person who does that receives a lesson on manners at the very least. There is no way you should have been pulled out of the line. I would have felt so bad too--especially because it dampened all the previous magic of the day. (((((hugs))))).

Thank you all for reading and the comments.
Yes, of course the main thing was to hang out with Marsha, see and hear SK and OK, enjoy the wonderful company of Neesy and Josh and, like I said, I will treasure these memories forever.
But I would be lying if I didn`t say how much all that crap about the book hurt me. Raffle ticket or no raffle ticket, I was supposed to get a book, it is included in the ticket price and of course I know that it didn`t have to be a signed book. But a book was nevertheless guaranteed, so I don`t understand her telling me I can`t get a book at all, and then later on I will be getting one IF there is one left.
What the hell do you mean "IF"? I paid for it, there are no ifs and buts, a book is mine.
I would really like to know who that woman is and why she, in all honesty, treated me like garbage. How can that happen at a Stephen King event?!
They just should have let me be, pick up a book, signed or not ( but it would have been signed if they didn`t pull me out of line ) and let me the hell leave. But no, they pull me out of line, everybody is looking at me like I`m a criminal, the security glances at me every 3 seconds. I was so angry and even ashamed, even though it was no fault of mine, I just felt like it would be best if the earth swallows me right there on the spot... :(
I waited for FORTY minutes until everybody was out, my kid`s Godfather was waiting for me outside the venue to pick me up, had to change parking spots constantly so he wouldn`t get a ticket, he called me three times asking what the hell is going on and why am I not exiting the building.
Sorry my friends if I`m bothering you with all this and spoiling the fun, but it was unfair, unprofessional and a really bad experience that hurt me.
And if I can`t talk about this to you, then I can`t talk about it to anyone, because you are my friends, my family and you will understand.
Thanks again for your kindness.

Thank you, bro. In all honesty, I would like the same, but...I have no clue how.
Happy Sunday, tet-mates.
Hi Srbo - I did not know they would humiliate you like that.

We said our goodbyes so we could catch the subway up to Finch.

To keep you waiting that long was wrong.

I would have hung around to vouch for you if I knew they we're going to give you such a hard time!

...unknown...I just took a shot to try to help a friend, if I was out of line I apologize...
I just think I remember Srbo mentioning previously that he has signed copies... I absolutely understand that you're supporting him through the goodness of your heart. ♥ A friend was hurt and disappointed and you want to make it better for him.
I'm just afraid that asking other folks (including Marsha) to fix this for him might be a bit too much.
My thoughts would be for Srbo to have some correspondence with the event organisers, perhaps Marsha could help him with this, but I don't think we should be demanding that of her.

I know this is coming from a good place, Scott... my thoughts are that it should be handled through channels local to the event though.

This is who I was referring to in Sleeping Beauties thread when I said "someone" needs to make this right, to be clear. In my view they are the only people at fault. I didn't mean to suggest Marsha was under any obligation to "fix this" only that she, besides the event organizers, would be in a priveleged position to help. Like Scott, I was trying to find/offer solutions and didn't mean to be an armchair adjudicator.

I absolutely do understand ... I'm just trying really hard to make sure that people who have no obligation to intervene, don't feel like they're under any pressure.

This has been a highly emotional response to a situation because it has involved one of our members and friends, it's just that we also have another member and friend potentially on the other side of the situation and she is in no position to defend herself (or the business) right now, so I feel that this should probably remain between Srbo and the local event organisers.

Like I said in my post about the Toronto stop, on page 21 in this thread, obviously they were giving out some raffle tickets when they scanned your ticket for the show.
Except that I didn`t get one, the girl who scanned my ticket only wished me a great time, no additional ticket was given to me.

Hi Srbo, have you been in contact with the booking agent or venue since this happened? My advice would be to call (and) email somebody at their office and explain what happened and also how it made you feel. Hopefully they will contact you with a response in a timely manner.

Hey, Neesy.
Yeah, you and Josh both saw me standing there out of the line when you picked up your books and were leaving.
You hung around enough, you even called me from outside the building and said that you can`t wait for me any longer, you have to catch the subway.
Thank you for waiting even that long.

Thank you, everybody, once again for the kind words and understanding.
KRF, I don`t know about the e-mail, the woman said she works for King and only when she saw a pic of Marsha and I on my phone, she said I might get a book IF there is one left.
I really don`t know what to say anymore, yes melindaville, she indeed killed the magic of such an awesome day.
We`ll see what Moderator says about all this.
Love and green lights, my friends.

Well, just to be clear as well: I am not pressuring anyone to do anything if they can`t/won`t or there is some other issue.
I explained what happened at the event and I truly hope something like this will not happen to anyone, in any city, any book tour.
It was ugly and unacceptable and I thought the board needs to know about it.
Have a great week, everyone.

Yes of course... and you have had our full support. Enjoy your week too Srbo and I hope you get the resolution you want.
