... I could not stand Fran. I imagine this has been beaten to death already, but her general attitude stunk on ice. For example, Stu wasn't worthy to feel what she thought was the baby kicking for the first time (as he wasn't the biological father) , but when Mother sent him to Las Vegas she said:

"For God's sake I'm going to have a baby..." and more or less made the baby Stu's responsibility; yet she drew an invisible line. That, and of course her more than blatant blasphemy at Mother's death bed.

Her condescending, conceited and snooty (albeit stereotypical) New England persona was brought into very sharp relief, and was well done. But I couldn't stand her.

Now I absolutely loved Dana, Lucy, hell - I even liked Nadine to a certain degree. But Fran.. blech.

The Darkside of the Moon (England really)
I never liked fran either, in fact for most of the book reading about her was annoying and tedious for me, that only changed towards the end but I still didn't like her.

As for molly, I've said it before on here I'm sure, I think the criticism of her is too harsh, ok she wasn't great but (in my opinion) the only person who was great in it was Gary Sinise playing stu and possibly the guy who played lloyd hendreid. Kathy bates was as good as you'd expect from a fantastic actor such as her but her part was so small you could hardly count it. For me, the actors who played Flagg, Harold, trashy, kojak's owner (whose name I can't remember) and many others in the mini series were as bad as or worse than molly ringwald.

Glen. And I forgot Kathy Bates was in the series. Now I remember. Gary was wonderful.

Absolutely. As far as casting the only ones who rang true were Stu and Moon guy. I've tried to remove the mini series from my memory. It really missed what my mind did with this story. This was my first King Novel and I loved it. Molly Ringwald was not the problem. While Fran was, well Fran. She survived and was a character. I might have said this before..casting Tom Cruise as Lestat hurt my relationship with that book series. If they'd do The Stand justice, I'd forgive them. The book needs to be produced right. They have the technology.
