And with the shading on the sheet.
She's done. A little more work on the jungle and that panel's done. On to the next.

Boring stuff, I'm sure. But it means a great deal to me to be getting so much done. It's not getting done fast enough, but it's steady progress, at least. I'm happy with that.

I had the house to myself for a little while today, so I hammered away on the comic a little bit.
These are by no means finished images, but it's a glimpse into the process. Stick figures first, then flesn 'em in. In these, the face is still stick, just a few lines to show where she's looking, and the eye level. Details will follow.
First, the sketch:

Spoiler'd because she's still wearing that see-through sheet.

She'll get covered up more. In the larger figure, she's tying the corners around her neck. in the next one (not pictured) she's crossed it beind her back and is tying it in the front in that halter style wrap I designed to replace the original frock. Her torso will be bared, but everything else will be covered up. Mostly.

Call it cliche, but throughout the history of comics, it's been the job of scantily-clad damsels to intrigue young male readers. So, yeah. I'm pandering to that.

Here's an update on muh artsy stuff.
I had 2 paintings to finish for the local museum exhibit, the rainy day one and another I hadn't figured out until just days before we were supposed to drop 'em off. I had ZERO idea for what to paint on the other one.

So, I decided to just start. I squirted paint on a palette (paper plate) and just started swishing colors around. Didn't love the swishing, so I started dabbing at it, just poking the big spiky brush at the canvas. I liked that better and ran with it. I ended up with this and loved it.

Then I found I liked it so much that I didn't want to cover it. Ugh. Is background painting an art style? Can I just submit it like that?
No. Okay.
But I couldn't decide. So I worked on the rainy day one.

Then I thought... the colors on this one look a lot like the one I did before of the kid and cat in a tree. That one was in the house when it went up. It didn't get burned, but it's got a layer of ash embedded into it. I can't clean it to the original colors. It's better, but not original.

So, yeah. Another kid and cat in a tree.

The day beore submissions opened, I still didn't have either one done. So I did the silhouettes on the kid n cat in a tree one...

And put white petals where I wanted the blossoms to go.

Because pink and purple won't cover brown. I have to do white first, then put the color.

Yesterday, neither was done, so I hurried up and finished up the rainy day one...

Tall guy blow dried that one while I painted the petals on the other one.

Got them both dry just in time to run out the door.

Realized that neither cat had whiskers, so I grabbed a sharpie and did them in the car.
Shhhhhh.

And here they are. Submitted and ready to be hung in the show.

That's Tall Guy with his two subissions on the end. I love his chess pieces!
