I'm not a FB or other social media person (by choice; it's not that social media and techy things scare me) so I don't really get the "Like" thing. I come on the board and see (courtesy of the Alerts tab) that 21 people have "liked" my various posts. That's all well and good, but do people really like EVERYTHING I post? I cannot believe that is true. What is the purpose of "liking" something?

Affirmation that someone agrees with you, or just wants to acknowledge that you exist :) Roll with it, baby--People like you! They really, really like you!

I get the acknowledging part. That makes sense. Sort of like, "Hmm, yes, I see." Not necessarily "I totally agree with you!" I can live with that. Thanks!
btw... I "liked" your post. My first one! (I think)

I use like for lots of reasons. And I may not actually agree with what is said in the post, but I appreciate the person taking their time to share.

Eer... I should have not liked this post, yeah?:0:In fact, I agree with everything said above. I also like people's post when I agree with their opinion, or when I like the subject risen (like in this thread). Sometimes I push the button to let a person know I have read the post and appreciate this (to evade a lot of useless posts like "Yes, I totally agree with you").
