Im hoping to start compiling a master list of Stephen King's Easter Eggs. What an Easter Egg is, in Mr King's case, is an intentional reference, theme, or recurring theme that signifies something greater than the story itself. Its one of Stephen King's attributes that I admire the most because a story is no longer a linear "Once Upon a Time.... " to "..and they lived happily ever after" because there are extra dimensions and tangeants that tie it to other stories in a much larger creative universe.

I usually look for Easter Eggs in Mr King's books passively, but I have come across many many so far, that Ive already forgotten some that I figure I need to start now

So far, I remember these:

October 9 - The set date for grand opening of the "Needful Things" store. October is the tenth month and the Ninth day of the month: 10 + 9 = 19

Clock reading "Four past Midnight" -
Well played, Mr. King...Well played :D

Cujo - Is mentioned in this book

Alan Pangborn - Was also a character in The Dark Half

I know there will be more so I'm just posting these before I forget

Gordie LaChance is a bigshot writer...
Johnny Smith...a bolt of lightening strikes down the Town Common, blowing the bandstand where J.S. discovered the name of a killer
the whole idea of electricity...Lester is described as having a switch and mental appliances which were usually dark and silent...the whole town is wired, really.
kinda of linkage to Christine where George is talking to Dennis...and talkin about waves...'electricity time' and 'wireless time'...some great wave of intelligence that always keeps flowing...
linkage to the stand, for sure...that lightening bolt...and as George says, a negative for every positive...
...linkage to wireman...back to Arnie...negative perspiration...back to N.T. and Dr. Gaunt's Electric Tonic

Tad Beaumont is mentioned...Homer Gamache...we get news of Thad Beaumont
Mr Gaunt thought of himself as an electrician of the human soul

I don't know how to hide spoilers, so if a mod can help....

In "Apt Pupil", Dussander references a banker who set up his investment folio as "a banker from Maine, who's in prison for murdering his wife, Dufresne. I remember because his name is similar to mine". Obvious reference to Shawshank redemption.

Flagg is mentioned in **many** stories.

Leland Gaunt states in "Needful Things": I've been know by a lot of names: Flagg, the Walkin' Dude etc

The policeman Mr. Nell, who dies in "Black House" is Mr. Nell from "It"'s grandson.

There are more I'm sure will occur to me in time....

In the chapter where Ace Merrill has driven to Boston to pick up the Tucker and a few other things for Gaunt, there is a reference to Christine made.

The sedan had that incomperable new-car smell, nothing like it in the world (except maybe for pussy),...

Flagg isn't mentioned, it rings a bell so the quote must be from the film. If it's connection to Flagg you're looking for, my favourite is the 'Yog-Sothoth rules' graffiti. Yog-Sothoth is the co-ruler of the outer gods in Lovecraft's Mythos. If you look up Randall Flagg on Wikipedia one of his many aliases is Nyarlathotep, who is avatar of the outer gods. Flagg is described somewhere in SK's works as 'servant of the outer dark'. Confused? You will be after the next episode of Soap.

I wouldn't call a lot of this stuff easter eggs. Needful Things takes place in Castle Rock, the same town that most of those other stories are set in. The characters and events are most obviously remembered by other citizens of the Rock. So these things aren't actually "hidden" for the reader to find.
