I saw the new one at the Cinema, but I noticed today at the DVD store that the new IT movie is out on DVD for $26. I should have looked to see if King says anything on the special features. I bought Dan Curtis' Trilogy of Terror, Karen Black (she's scary) is in Millicent and Therese.

Karen Black scary? Not to me! I think she was one of the most breathtakingly (unconventually) beautiful actresses who's ever lived. You don't see actresses that real & earthy anymore.

She and I were speaking about the film with Tim Curry.

Oh...and welcome! :)
Thank you. Pleased to be here. I understand you were referring to the Tim Curry version. Juse making the observation as it IS an adaptation of a book that in said book the clown does look scary on several occasions. At the end of the day you prefer what you prefer. I've always subscribed to the idea that things a creepier when they are not trying to be. I just think Pennywise (as created by Sk)amps it up deliberately. That's just his style☺

I have a huges soft spot for old Pennywise as like many others I grew up watching the miniseries and Tim Curry gives a delightfully entertaining performance. However new Pennywise seems more in line with what I pictured reading the book. In the novel Pennywise very often makes no pretenses about how evil and savage he/it/she us barre the storm drain encounter.

I think both are good. The new Pennywise is I suppose more scary in traditional horror sense but the Curry Pennywise is scary just because he don't look evil, he looks rather innocent, and that's the scary part. Out of all the King adaptations I think they should do is The Stand, because with today's CGI they could do some unreal stuff with Flagg, and all the dead people. I also thought I heard that they were going to do a Pet Sematary remake which I hope is more violent than the 1989 movie. I still like the 89 version.
