They are all good and you'll get subjective lists from your question. It'll be up to you to choose. I suggest starting at the earliest and chronologically moving your way up the ladder. Maybe one of his short story volumes to whet your appetite and give you more decision making grist for the mill. There is a good short story called 'Children of the Corn' which, if memory serves, has your namesake as a main character. Enjoy! mal.

Really? Definitely early era King. Idk, maybe I should give Firestarter another go. Haven't read it since it came out! Have seen the movie a couple times. Wasn't impressed.

I just re-read it a few months ago (?) and really enjoyed it, more than i did the first go-round. Don't get me wrong, the Dead Zone is a superior novel, but i do think if you like the story, then Firestarter is a pretty good companion piece.

The Dead Zone has always been one of my favorite King books. It works on a lot of different levels. Coping with long illnesses, politics, serial killers etc. I re-read the book while my daughter was in the hospital receiving treatment for leukemia and reading those parts dealing with Smith's recovery took on new meaning when I had a better understanding of long hospital stays. One part of the book that seemed a bit far fetched to me in the past was the notion that the
serial killer was a police officer. But now we have the Golden State Killer who apparently worked as a police officer. It makes the Frank Dodd character all the more chilling knowing there is a real world example of his type.
It's a great book and they made it into a very good movie as well.

Welcome, Sheldon. Both of those are great novels and The Dead Zone, in particular, is packed with alot of story. King is a virtuoso with newer books, too, like Duma Key and Bag of Bones. He knows how to weave all the threads together.
