Very, very, EXCEPTIONALLY HARD to list my top three without honouring Mr. King...

Tiger, Tiger (A.K.A. The Stars My Destination) by Alfred Bester.
The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
Lightbringer (series) by Brent Weeks.

If pressed for a top three of SK books (not necessarily novels) it would be:
The Dark Tower (series)
On Writing
The Green Mile

Three? Not five? Or even ten? I can't do three. Oh boy. I'm assuming you don't mean SK books exclusively. But all books. For me, The Great Gatsby will always be #1. I take that back. There have been brilliant books written since then and one might certainly, in my lifetime, overcome it. Second I'd probably put Fitzgerald's Tender is the Night. Do you see a pattern forming here? :) I'd probably put Hemingway's Movable Feast in there, Vonnegut's Slaughter House-Five, Don Quixote, Maybe Under The Volcano by Malcolm Lowry. Harlan Ellison's I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream? Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian? I think I've gone past 5. If I was going to do three SK books I'd say:

Duma Key, Salem's Lot, and The Stand.

This is my favourite book ever, my father bought it for my in 1973/1974 because I kept bugging him about Colt and Remington guns I saw in the Western movies on television.

1) 2) My second favourite book is Pet Sematary which I read back in 1984 when I was 18/19, and I still think it is King's best book.
3) My 3rd favourite book would have to be a John D. MacDonald book. The Neon Jungle or A Bullet for Cinderalla.

Haven't read "Duma Key" yet, I've heard it's good though
