I had a cousin that had one of these monkeys with the banana. Not the same as the cymbal one, but still tres' creepy!! I hated that thing and would not sleep in the same room it was in. When I first read The Monkey, it brought that feeling all back. Scared me then, and scares me again with each re-read! Brruh!!

Just a nothing thing I noticed that I thought was nostalgic.

When Hal was thinking about his mother's death, the description included her falling at the water cooler and shattering the water bottle. For all you young whippersnappers, 5 gallon water cooler bottles used to be glass. It probably really sucked to be a water bottle delivery man back then. :) A long time ago, we had a lady from Venezuela that worked at our company and she told a story of her son almost bleeding to death in a Venezuelan grocery store becasue he was picking up one of those glass bottles and it broke and severely cut his arm.

Anyway, sometimes I just notice those old things in these stories.

Good catch. I do remember those being glass.

My aunt had one of these! He was missing his banana but I played with him all the time. His name was Charlie. :biggrin2:

Next reading group Discussion # 25 will be on Thursday July 5 due to the holiday. 9PM as usual.
We will discuss Ray Bradbury's "The Jar" found in "The October Country".
There appears to be a number of free downloads in PDF of "the Jar" for those who do not have the book.
Is the Board closed that week or is that the next week?

I thought Marsha was on vacation one of those weeks?

I found one - just finished reading the story - first time for me reading one of his stories - that was very good!

(I'll save any further comments for Thursday)
