Any real life "Christines" out there?

I have been restoring a troublesome car which has been labelled cursed, evil, and referred to as Christine by friends of mine.

She is a 1983 Porsche 944 that I bought about 5-6 years ago. She was in good condition when I got her, and ran great as a daily runner for 3 or 4 years (even passed MOTs without advisories!) but then i got the motorsport bug - and that's when everything changed.

After prepping for the first event, she skipped the timing and blew the engine. After that I have had numerous incidents that have ranged from creepy to dangerous. Almost as though she is telling me she doesn't want to compete.

Off the top of my head I have had her fall off Jack stands whilst left alone, slammed the rear hatch on my hand - twice, had a coolant hose split and cause second degree burns (and 6 weeks seeing a plastic surgeon), accelerator pedal sticking open, petrol cap freezing closed - in summer, random unexplained electrical problems, losing a torqued down sump plug and all oil, plus a lot of mechanical failures that would never happen again in a lifetime, plus a lot more...

I'm sceptical, but i know others who refuse to go anywhere near her.

Here's a (supposedly) sinister looking picture.tmp-cam-6895105699797340880.jpg

Oh, I also have a video I took of CCTV footage of the rear hatch opening by itself.

Anyone else have similar tales of mischievous or malevolent cars?

...hmmmmm, I'd be careful walking in front of it-just sayin'....me?.....I own a Jeep and they coined the term "cantankerous"....they end up costing more than they're worth in repairs-but yet I still love em....so yeah, they have their own siren song.....

Cool story Luke Nukem. Good luck with the ongoing maintenance. I'd splash it with holy water just to see what happens. If it doesn't smoke then I'd cut a live chicken over the hood and let the blood flow where it may. After that I would think it should run like a dream!
