First episode I was just confused and it seemed a little slow. Second and third episodes more than made up for the first, definitely hooked.

I hadn't made that connection until reading your post, but totally! The setting (cold, snowy), character, search, and car (although, slightly different timelines).Okay, I thought about this last night and again just now. Was anyone else reminded of Stranger Things in the first three minute intro?
Hi!
I found this about "The Kid" played by Mr. Skarsgard
The Shawshank PrisonerHe has no name yet — he’s called “The Kid” in some reviews of the show — and has only said the words “Henry Deaver,” but he’s clearly important to the plot of Castle Rock (and not just because he’s portrayed by the man also known as Pennywise the Clown from It, Bill Skarsgard). From the minute he’s found, there’s something disturbing about this silent man. And it even appears he may have supernatural abilities, as the final scenes of “Severance” feature an officer watching him open gates, stare at the security camera, and leave dead bodies of other prisoners in his wake after possibly disappearing entirely. Could this character be the classic King archetype of the mysterious stranger who comes to town with evil powers? The Devil in human form? And why did Warden Lacy not only have him in an abandoned water tank but tell him to say “Henry Deaver” when people found him?
Hope this helps.
Thanks for sharing this! I thought he was referred to asNick. Doesn't Zalewski say something to Henry about the guards referring to him as such because he's being monitored and that leads to "Nick at Night" and "Nick" for short? If he's also called "The Kid" is that maybe a reference or link to The Stand? I definitely don't see any links in physical appearance or circumstance between The Kid in The Stand and Skarsgard's character, so it will be interesting to see if the show makes any deeper links. Same thing with Jackie Torrance. Her full name is spoken in the second episode, I think, but it's listed as a spoiler on IMDB, so it seems like the link might be significant
Aww I seeI'm not saying he's playing Pennywise in "Castle Rock" I meant just being a major villain in two recent popular King adaptations is a bit weird. I assumed he might be playing RF because of the denim jacket he was wearing.
If you thought the first few episodes were kinda slow, wait until you get through episode 4.
Things ramp up...considerably.
The young red-headed guard kept reminding me of someone and it was driving me batty.
Me too. I remembered he did a season on Law & Order: SVU as a crime scene guy who flippped out and also played one of the Hatfields/McCoys in the miniseries. The one that drove me nuts was the actress who plays Molly. I did some investigating and found that she was a guest star in an episode of Psych. What a relief!
I haven't seen any of the programs you mentioned, but did recognize the actress who plays Molly from the earlier seasons of Two and a Half Men.Me too.
