When I first read it, I thought Eddie was gay but I don't think King makes it an issue. I don't think King was necessarily making that implication. The original miniseries made a little more of it in such scenes as Eddie not wanting to shower with the other boys (which, to be fair, is because his mother orders him not to) and the clown calls him "girly boy". Later, as an adult, the Losers are in the Derry Library where they discover Stan's severed head in the mini-fridge. Stan makes this comment: "Eddie...how's your sex life? What's your sex life?"
Keep in mind, this is the miniseries and not from the book, but I don't think it's crazy to make the leap that Eddie could be gay; I just don't think it is important to the story.

I completely agree with this.

he's joking.
Somewhat. In my own jokey way I was pointing out that boys who have special relationships with their mothers seem to have the propensity to become gay. I know that's a blanket statement and maybe a stereotype but I wonder how prevalent that pattern is. I did not know how to word that without being politically incorrect. I hope not to offend anyone as I am still not clear whether being gay is a choice or a hard-coded trait. Or maybe a bit of both. In either case, we're all humans who bleed red, laugh, and cry. We are all chained to the world and we all have to pull, so let's pull together.

Right, I got it. I knew you were using your humor to point out a common stereotype. With no harm intended.
