At least judging by the response on Reddit, many commenters are complaining that too many questions were left unanswered, too many threads left dangling at the conclusion of the story. Several are blaming JJ Abrams, going by some of his past projects (notably Lost).

One comment that really stood out for me was, paraphrasing, that the show was brilliant in terms of atmospherics but was a bit disappointing in terms of the story.

That's to be expected with such an open-ended conclusion. People draw their own conclusions, though, which I kind of enjoy doing. The atmospherics were stellar, I agree. My friend works in the town that "portrayed" Castle Rock. I intend to grill her when I'm able.

When you do grill her, are you going to share with the rest of the class? I'm getting hungry. NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM

Loose threads in SK works are a feature, not a bug. Life is nothing but a long chains of loose threads haphazardly woven together.

She was yummy, too! ;)

Absolutely agree about loose ends. It's one of the most delicious things about SK works.

Like a million little doorways
All the choices we made
All the stages we passed through
All the roles we played
For so many different directions
Our separate paths might have turned
With every door that we opened
Every bridge that we burned

I don't consider it so much open-ended.
Henry didn't want to believe the Kid (Henry II?) even though he remembered some of the chaos he caused in that other Earth. Fast forward and we see Henry behaving like the dick he has always been, and doing the very same thing he condemned the other warden about.
