Maybe ghost19 will make us some teacakes :snicker:
Seriously though I would be interested in the recipe that matches the picture of the little cakes.
What do you think Ghost, wanna whip up a batch?:rofl:
Sorry, just had a mental image of you in an apron making these cakes ....

Well, I've actually got this old recipe that my grandma gave me for teacakes. The recipe is an old southern variation on the "S" cake recipe but not to be confused with her famous "R" cakes....... dammit I went cross eyed just typing that out...hope you're happy Alexandra....;)

A couple of weekends ago, I woke up before everyone on Sunday morning. I was pretty hungry but really didn't want to go anywhere. Figured I'd make biscuits, some sausage and bacon, scrambled eggs, and a bunch of toast. Started out slowly, gathering up all the stuff, cooking one thing at a time so I didn't lose track of the battle. About 30 minutes later, the house is filled with the smell of cooking bacon and sausage. Doors start opening up down the hallway.....My son was the first to give me some breakfast cooking props as he walked into the kitchen.

"Hey Dad, what's Tamara cooki.......pause...........are you cooking breakfast?"
"Yep."
"Why?"
"Tam's still sleeping, I was going to let her sleep and make everyone breakfast."
The incredulous grin he gave me was a real kodak moment. "You sure you want to tackle this?"
............"Grab a plate wise ass, you can be the guinea pig, it's almost done."

About five minues later, In walks my very beautiful wife, looking all the more so when she first wakes up. Looks at me, then Daniel.
"Is your dad cooking breakfast?"

Daniel laughing, "Yep, apparently. It actually smells really good."

Tamara, a quick laugh, "Yeah it does."

Both of them are looking at me now like they're watching a particularly gifted five year old try to put on a three course meal.

"Ok, who wants the first plate?"

My always supportive wife chimes up "I'll take a plate, and thank you for making breakfast, that was very sweet of you."

Daniel, smirking, "Famous last words. Let me know if it's edible."

That's my boy........he has to be, he's too big of a wise ass to be anyone else's...lol

BTW, breakfast was acknowledged by both of them as being very good. At least that's what they told me. The funny thing is I have absolutely no ego when it comes to cooking. I freely admit my lack of cooking skills but it's funny to watch everyone's reactions on the rare occasions I do make something...lol

I miss my raccoons, they appreciated my culinary skills dammit!..lol

My heart dropped to my knees today. Panic attack. The guys come to put in our new heating/cooling unit. Anyhow, they turned the outside faucet it to clean where the old unit was. Damn the faucet broke sending water into my house and under my King cabinets in my dining room. Went rooming outside and told them to shut it off. Had to dry up the floor and instantly take all the books out. Thank Gan not one wet book. Thought my world was over.

Oh, Linda, that was a close call! My biggest fear is losing my collection to a fire or even a flood.

My living room has books all over as hubby is at work. But when he gets home,we will move bookcases and make sure everything is ok before putting everything back. But for my sanity I needed to check each and every book.
I found a bug on one of my limited edition books that was in my lawyer's bookcase and had to take each and every one of those books out of the bookcase and inspect them. The bug was actually inside one of the tray cases (I just happened to have the urge to take a look at that particular book for some reason) and I have no idea how it even got inside that! I found no other bugs but it sure shook me up.
