Hey, everybody!

I've never been great at intros. :D I'm usually the one to say "Hey, how are you?" and slink back into the darkness. At the risk of spoiling the evil plans of my social anxiety, I'm gonna give this a solid try.
So, I live in Michigan - Ferndale to be specific. If you're not from around here, it's one of the closest suburbs to Detroit. I love Stephen King's work, (I'm massively behind on reading, however. I had this little thing to do that involved obtaining my Master's degree) and I love horror in general. I've become kind of a connoisseur, which some might say is a weird thing to be a connoisseur of, but I say it's no different than being a Star Wars fan, really - just way more blood.
I'm a writer, as well. I've published a few novels (SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT!) and I maintain a horror blog where I've decided to watch all the horror movies in my local library's collection. I'm a few weeks behind on it, though - that little thing involving my Master's degree came to fruition recently and, needless to say, finals were a bitch. If you want to have a look, feel free -- www.opheliacrane.com.
A few personal details -- I have two children. One adult, grown and married and living in Texas and aspiring to be a professional wrestler(she might actually do it too. ;)) and a precocious teenager who wants nothing more than to be a game designer (but she's got the artist bug bad, she just won't admit it). I also enjoy all kinds of music...except country with the exception of Dolly Pardon and Johnny Cash (and 90s Garth Brooks, but that's really more of a guilty pleasure). I'm also what happens when that goth kid you knew in high school grows up and makes something of herself (Yeah, that's right. Bite me, Mrs. Lockett).
That's all I can come up with for now. Nice to meet you all and I hope to get to know some of you better!

No! I'm trying to read them all chronologically. Got stuck on The Stand just when classes started to ramp up. I'll get there, though. I feel a cosmic connection to it since it's my birthday AND it's a King book. :)
Wow - that is cool - you were born 11 years after the assassination

You'll be there a while if you try to read all his books in order!

Hi OpheliaC, and welcome! Your Oral Exams must have been horrendous for you, given your social anxiety. I'm glad you got through it. I never really listened to Garth Brooks but became a huge fan of the man when I read how he handles ticket scalpers by playing many shows in the same town. He's stickin' it to the man good! Real good! All the best, mal.

I did not know that about Garth. Good on him for keeping it real.
Oral exams, speeches, social engagements, I can do them, but it's kind of like...you know when you're about to go on a rollercoaster and you have that feeling of "I'm totally going to be the one to fly off this mother and get splattered all over the pavement" but you do it anyway and that doesn't happen? It's like that. Thank goodness for the internet, right?

.....I was kind of the "blend into the background" type myself, as a kid-due to social awkwardness and a less than hunky physique-but when I shot up to nearly 7 foot in height, there was no hiding and I've since embraced being borderline "fluffy" in weight....so it all worked out.....and the whole social thing?.....meh, 40 years in communications got rid of that....so tall fat boy with a big mouth says "howdy"......
