Maybe they let it slip to avoid the major uproar that would have happened after we all went to the theater and saw it. There would have been a lot of Annie Wilkes in the audience standing up and yelling 'She didn't die in the cock-a-doodie book!!!' :D
I bet you're right. This has to be the reason. Otherwise, it's a colossal idiotic decision. Having said that, more and more movie trailers are basically showing us the entire movie in one trailer. It's ridiculous. Are they that clueless?

I think I'm most disappointed in the scene where Ellie's reanimated corpse is walking to Rachel and Louis says, "Hug your daughter." This changes the entire ending of the book. Louis' secrecy and all that tension that builds while Rachel is in Chicago and his breaking into the cemetery to dig up Gage (in this case Ellie). The directors are trying something different; that's fine. I feel some betrayal, though, because the writer and director are on record saying they wanted to be faithful to the book and tell an intimate and realistic story of grief and not just a horror movie. I could be way off base, having only seen a two minute trailer, but it feels like they didn't live up to that promise. I fear this may not bode well for future adaptations. There seems to be a white hot cash grab to get his films made without respect to the material or his fans. King is a hot commodity. I will be skipping it.

See these changes completely revamp the entire progression of a carefully layered story. Everything is built around the Burial grounds being a secret between Jud and Louis. It’s carefulley structured so that no one else is aware that Winston is a zombie, which in turn kind ignorant bottled up inside Louis as the kitty begins to haunt him.

Also also, Ellie being the one who dies completely ruins the plot. She’s the lone heir to the Creed name and also has the shining of sorts. King is good at crafting mature child characters. Most writers would make a 5-6 year old blissfully unaware. Ellie knows what is going on but is powerless to stop it.

Exactly. I think it was wise they did this and I am ok with them doing this with Ellie, but their is still a theory that something still may happen to gage

I don't know exactly how I feel about this. it could make the movie interesting, give us something new...but there was nothing wrong with the original ending. It is one of the best endings Stephen King has ever done.
