Is anybody here excited to see that there is a new Thomas Harris novel coming soon? It's not a Lecter novel but it looks intriguing. Personally, I got bored with the Lecter tales after the sequel to Lambs.

It's on Amazon for pre-sale.This is the first I've heard of it - thanks!
Tell me about it. Hannibal ? More like, disappointing sequel. The writing style noticeably changed, it felt pretentious, and Clarice didn’t seem like the same character she was in Lambs. It almost felt like he was trying to write a 007 novel, what with that disfigured guy (I forget his name) being some kind of Bond villain cutout. Is anybody here excited to see that there is a new Thomas Harris novel coming soon? I have about 100 pages to go. Oh my God. How does he keep that suspense and tension so tennis-racket-strung tight? Wow is right. My anxiety is through the roof.Last week I finished For Those Who Wish Me Dead by Michael Koryta. Wow. That one is now my favorite Michael Koryta book.
I see there is a movie in production and Angelina Jolie is going to be in it.
I need to move this up on my to read pile. I ordered some of his books from thriftbooks...one of them is signed! I think I paid $4. SCORE!!I have about 100 pages to go. Oh my God. How does he keep that suspense and tension so tennis-racket strung tight? Wow. My anxiety is through the roof.
Score indeed! It is a fantastic story and just a virtuoso performance by Mr. Koryta.I need to move this up on my to read pile. I ordered some of his books from thriftbooks...one of them is signed! I think I paid $4. SCORE!!
I am slogging through it. It is written as though one of the Maesters wrote it, so it is very dry. It feels like you are reading a history text. Parts are good, parts are really hard to get through with the lists of names that mean nothing to me. The story within all the history is good, that is the only reason I have stuck with it.Have any of you read Fire And Blood by George R R Martin? Its a prequel to Game of thrones and starts of about 300 years earlier when the first Targaryen conquers Westeros. Got it cheap at the booksale and wonder where i should place it in my TBR list.
The list of names...so there's a lot of begatting?I am slogging through it. It is written as though one of the Maesters wrote it, so it is very dry. It feels like you are reading a history text. You might really enjoy it, though, because of your love of history texts!
Not so much of that since the very beginning, the begetting is handled more in the actual story mode than history. But this one from that stronghold and that one did something really mundane with people from 3 other parts of the kingdom. Most of the time it has no bearing on the story it feels like it was just thrown in there to make it seem like a history. The list of names...so there's a lot of begatting?
I see. A lot of begatting can be a lot of be-boring.Not so much of that since the very beginning, the begetting is handled more in the actual story mode than history. The dragons being very present in this story is super cool. And my hardcover has some really great black and white illustrations in it.
It just does not flow very well and I can only read it a little at a time. Which may be why all these names mean nothing to me.
