I have so many books going right now. Feeling a bit jangled.

Blowing the Bloody Doors Off by Michael Caine. I absolutely love his writing. I've read all his books and I just find him so interesting. And honest. I wrote him a letter, one of my Personal Notes, but I didn't get an answer back. I may try again. The day I wake up and hear he is gone is going to be a real loss. In my next life, Michael Caine and I are going to be friends.

Where The Crawdad's Sing
THe Beguiled
Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas
The Path Made Clear
-- yeah. THat's right. It's Oprah. Make fun of me if you want. But I love The Oprah. She's always ready to learn something new. She actively seeks knowledge and never stops educating herself. Am I a devotee watching all her Super Soul Sundays? Nope. But I occasionally check in with her to see what new discovery she's made that will be fun for me to.

And of course, I am reading The Talisman.

Working on quilts. Watching the two little boys. Keeping my eyes on the moment a warm day shows up so I can be in my yard, laze in my rocking chair. Talk to the quail. Contemplate all the would've should've could'ves.

Read Conclave by Robert Harris. Well done to be able to make such an exciting thriller without any violence or hunts or things like that. Just a bunch of powerhungry cardinals that tries to become the next pope. They just eat, talk and vote all through the book.
And it works!!

Last night, I finished The Silence. I liked it, even though it got rather predictable toward the end. I plan to watch the Netflix adaptation soon.

I plan to start reading Skeleton Crew tonight, and I can't wait. I'm a big fan of short stories, and I've loved the two King collections I've read so far--Night Shift and The Bazaar of Bad Dreams.

I've also been reading Paperbacks From Hell by Grady Hendrix. It's definitely been a fun read so far. If you're a fan of vintage horror from the 70's and 80's, it's worth checking out. It's worth checking out just for the covers alone.

Skeleton Crew is one of his best collections. Night Shift will always be tops for me but that's because I'm sentimental (and also because the stories are so varied in content and style).

My friend’s stepmom has a Marilyn Monroe themed bathroom (the downstairs guest bathroom) the lights are really dim so it’s disturbing to see shadowy Marilyn’s glancing at you from multiple angles.
...yep, a little bit of creep factor there....though she did some off her best work in the dark....

Skeleton Crew seems universally loved among King fans, so I have high expectations. I'll be sure to check in with my thoughts and favorite stories.

Being away from all the usual distractions has been good for my reading time. This past month I've read:

Exit Wounds and The A List by J.A. Jance
The Institute by Stephen King
A Noise Downstairs by Linwood Barclay

Started it yesterday and currently about halfway through Origin by Dan Brown. Started The Reckoning by John Grisham at the beginning of the month but it didn't grab me. Will save that one for when I'm back in AZ again and maybe then I'll have better luck with it.
