I'm up to page 220 of the 2019 paperback edition. What is scary is the inevitability about it. You know it going to happen and from the start (there's something slightly warped about Louis as well, and Jud). Gage is alright, but Ellie and Rachel are annoying so you don't care if they die. But you feel for Louis.

Yes mainly I found the part sad or disturbing where
right after Louis injects Gage Stephen King wrote "Now Gage looked up at him and for a moment Louis saw his son-----His real son----his face unhappy and filled with pain Daddy!! he cried, and then fell forward onto his face"
That part really gets to me!!!

I remember giving my mother the cash to buy Pet Sematary for me when it came out, I was working that weekend so couldn't go in to get it myself, when I got home we had started to knock a hole in the wall at the back of the house so we could put in a set of double doors, that night we covered the hole in the wall with plastic sheeting and I volunteered to stay downstairs and make sure nobody tried to break in. I settled down with the book and stayed awake the whole night reading it. Every time that plastic sheeting rustled in the breeze I jumped about six feet in the air, is it a scary book you ask, it scared the bejesus out of me.

Its scary in its sense of inevability. You know exactaly whats going to happen and you know Louis will never stop trying no matter how awfull the results.

Its terrifying in the fact that of how you are so vulnerable you are dealing with greif and the power it holds. Take the fantasy elements out of it. As a parent your love and insticnts would lead you down all paths to remedy the situation.

The ability to feel like your a passenger inside of Louis through out helps you to feel this book. when you read this you are Louis Creed and you slowly give in to the maddness.

I no what mean. You are right. But it is scary in that you know he can't stop what is going to occur. I feel sorry for Louis, but not for Rachel. I like Gage. One thing I don't get is if he was scared of all the trucks along the highway and after what happened to the cat, why didn't he build a little enclosure at the front of the house with a gate. He could have made it easily. How is your job going where you volunteer at the Salvation Army? Are you still working in the clothes section?

Lol there always seems to be a lot of little things that could change the outcomes of stories for the better. Long story short, if there was a fence then there was no story. That or the burial ground would have found away to impale Gage on the wood.
