A Song of Ice and Fire:

1. A Game Of Thrones: 804 pages

2. A Clash Of Kings: 1009 pages

3. A Storm Of Swords: 1216 pages

4. A Feast For Crows: 1104 pages

5. A Dance With Dragons: 1040 pages

So just over 5000 pages, maybe a couple of months? I remember it took me 5-6 months reading at a normal pace. But everyone's different.o_O
This friend of mine hasn’t already read plenty of other popular lengthy fantasy series, and this friend usually plays the role of dungeon master whenever my friends get together over summer to attempt and do a dungeons and dragons campaign, so he’s a very patient individual

There were two strong queens in this show, and they were both depicted as unstable villains who needed to be killed for the good of the realm. I'm deeply concerned about the deleterious long-term effects of this series on American attitudes toward female leaders in general.

Meanwhile, Jon and Jaime ended up right back where they started, destroying 8 seasons of character development. I don't blame fans for starting a petition, even if it won't accomplish anything.

It was too late to edit the last post.
They selected the most boring person in the realm to be the new king. Bran didn't have a claim to the iron throne, and he did nothing to earn it. He was absent for a whole season. This series made no sense whatsoever.

What about Sansa? Arya? Both very strong women characters who were good at leading their people.

I just disagree in general about making everything sexist. Dany did not lose because she was a woman. She lost because she was crazy. Cersei was mean and devious...not exactly a well rounded female role model.

I feel sick about this whole series knowing that
Emilia Clarke watched videos of Hitler in preparation for Season 8.
My grandparents actually lived in Germany during the Second World War.
I'm distancing myself from this show and all future spinoffs.
I'm gonna watch Vikings and Outlander when I'm not doing my homework.

"I brought a jack@ss and a honeycomb into a brothel once."

This was a solid ending. The online nerds that are so offended by everything (instead of, like, earning a living or whatever) could pony up $200M to make their own HBO show or just shut their pie-holes.

Also, Jon hugged Ghost. :)

Almost forgot
Bran the Broken is a disparaging, ableist title. It reminded me of that comment Gal Gadot made about Stephen Hawking.

All I will say about Sunday is

!!!!!!
You all need to catch up!! ;)

Finished The Long Night last night!!! And I will second...
!!!!!! :D Hubby felt it was too long, but I loved and suffered through every second of it!

Well, that’s the story.....but this is GOT. For many years we thought Jon was Ned Stark’s illegitimate child.

What if Ned thought it would be safer to switch and he keeps Baratheon’s child? Hadn’t he been very interested in Gendry?
Ned told the smith to send Gendry to him if he ever shows interest in wielding a sword. And he had wanted to buy a helmet Gendry made. Did he show that much interest in any of Baratheon’s other illegitimate children?

Interesting theory, but the thing that goes against that is Jon's affinity with the dragons and toughness to kill, seeming to fit in with his Targerian bloodline.

All for now. We hope to finish the last three episodes by the time we're back online Tuesday. My prediction - hubby will be disappointed and I will be sad to see it end.

Sansa and Arya? Well, Sansa became Queen of the North by behaving like the people who raised her; Cersei and Littlefinger. This leaves it open for debate exactly how "good" she'll be at leading her people. Maybe she was fine before Dany came along and threatened her position but after she met Dany, her demeanor completely changed. And Arya? Arya is a crazy psycho herself. The only difference between Arya and Dany is Arya doesn't have a dragon to do her bidding. Arya is a deeply disturbed character who takes pleasure in slitting throats, creating kill lists, and falling asleep dreaming about murdering her enemies. I am a fan of the Starks, have been since day 1 but make no mistake about it-they are just as blood and power hungry as Dany became.

There are many morals to the story of Game of Thrones but one fine red thread which weaves through the entire tapestry of the whole thing is that power corrupts. It can corrupt sweet girls who go to King's Landing with a dream of marrying the prince and one day becoming a queen as well as powerful men who slay the man whom they believed to be responsible for kidnapping and murdering their lady love. It corrupted Robert Baratheon, Cersei, Sansa, Arya, Dany, Stannis, Renly, almost anyone who had even a small amount of it. At least, that's what I took away from it.

Moderator. Can we spoiler ginapenn's response above for those who have not finished watching yet?

ginapenn.

You are right. The throne corrupted everyone. I did not say Sansa and Arya were perfect. If they were not flawed characters in some way they would have been boring. My point was to say there were still plenty of strong women characters left when the dust settled, as well as all the way through.

Sorry about that. Had been working on other things so hadn't been back to the posts to see it .
