A biography, Steve McQueen, The Life and Legend of a Hollywood Icon, by Marshall Terrill. Man, what a ride. And I always thought Steve was just a regular guy.
I was going to get this one from the new selections at our library but I passed it over (online) so I may go order it and put myself on the waiting list.

Have you read THE OCEAN AT THE END OF THE LANE yet? Positively the best thing I've read this year (cry pardon to Mr. King, but I can't lie about books). I edit for writers, and there is absolutely nothing I would or could suggest changing about that book.

I did and loved it! I actually cried when I got to the end because I didn't want it to finish. Why did it have to be so short? I will definitely read this book again.
Glad to see other people enjoyed it to.

I read it three times in one weekend, and cried at the beginning (that birthday party!) and the end all three times :big_tears:. It was just a beautifully written, fabulous book.

Extra sweet for me too. First time read. After reading 100 pages of the Lot and reading The Shining last Sep., it's amazing how much different King's earlier writing is. His earlier works are truly horror, where his newest are closer to mainstream fiction.

He could really make you check under the bed back then!

I haven't been able to read him since Weaveworld. So, so badly researched, & unbelievable characters. That stuff makes me crazy
Been years since I read Weaveworld. My question is how can it be badly researched if it's a fantasy novel, one that is made up by the author? I'm not criticizing you, just curious about your opinion. I thought it was a pretty good book, but I also don't read alot of fantasy or sci-fi either.
