Recently I found book 3 of the Dragon Brigade from the Dollar General store. So now I have to go buy the first two books off of amazone sometime.

I swear all the time at Dollar General stores, they always have like the 3rd or 4th book of some fantasy book series where you have to go get the other first book or whatever from online

Today the mailman delivered a very nice 1st printing hardback of Sex And Violence In Hollywood by Ray Garton. Got in on thriftbooks.com for less than $5 and it's signed and inscribed! Man, this book is bigger than I thought it would be- it's about the same size as the Dark Harvest edition of Swan Song by Robert McCammon. Over 500 pages in length. I also found an unopened DVD of Drop Dead Fred at Goodwill over the weekend.

Saturday after thrifting I came home with a nice trade paperback Plume edition of 'The Bachman Books' by King and a paperback edition of 'Santa's Twin' by Dean Koontz with illustrations by Phil Parks. Koontz and Parks go so well together- Parks has illustrated numerous Koontz books in the past. I always find hidden things in Parks work. I also found a decent 1st printing paperback of 'Jaws' to add to the collection. Friday the mailman delivered from thriftbooks.com a very nice hardback 1st printing of 'The Thomas Berryman Number' by James Patterson. This is a very rare, hard-to-find title from Patterson. His first novel which didn't sell a lot of copies when it was released in 1976. I enjoy his early novels, not so much his later monthly books that other people write and he slaps his name on as co-writer. thriftbooks.com had an ex-library copy listed and the asking price was $127. I paid one tenth of that for my copy. It pays to look through all of the listings on their site when you're searching for a book as prices vary.

I never read the novel before so I dunno what goes on but the sypnosis on the back says Forrest becomes a pig farmer and invents New Coke.

Back in the day anyway I read the Forrest Gump novel and its way different than the movie. In the novel, Forrest and Lt Dan become astronauts i think and some weird stuff happens out in space i think

What happens in the sequel

Forrest Gump the book is the worst book ever. Eric Roth, the screenwriter for Forrest Gump won the academy award for Best Adapted Screenplay and he absolutely deserved it. He took a nugget of an idea by Winston Groom and made it what it became. That took some great imagination to know that Winston Groom had the seed but killed it. Eric grew it into the presence it became.

In the history of watching the Academy Awards all my life, Eric Roth is the ONLY screenwriter I can name and tell you what movie he won for.

Even though I bought both the original Forrest Gump novel along with Gump and Co., i should read Gump and Co anyway since I always wanted to read it back then sometime when the movie was released for VHS back then.

But the sequel novel was tough to find anywhere back then.

Plus the original novel of Forrest Gump has stuff in it that the movie doesnt
