Hi everyone!

I've been making my way though every single King book that's available on Audible. I've physically read almost all of his books- except this one- Dream Catcher.

I'm 7 hours into the book with 15 hours left and I'm struggling to go on. Is this book worth the listen?

I'm just into the part where the government is involved and they've landed their eyes on the first actual "blue man" ship. I can't seem to get into this part. The part with the government.

Is this book going to be worth my time? I am loving the Derry references and the fact that the boys grew up in Derry and am also wondering if the Mr. Gray is Bob Gray (AKA- IT)

But this is a long one and I'd like to move on, although it KILLS me to do so and I've NEVER moved on from one of his books once I've started it, even Bag of Bones when it started to get a bit slow.

I guess I'm just looking for some words of encouragement or at least some light at the end of the tunnel that this book will end up being more of the "horror" genre than the "sci-fi" genre.(which I'm not a fan of and this seems to be leading into that direction...)

Thanks in advance!

Welcome! I cannot give you any comfort with this. Not one of my favorites either, but I was determined to make it through.

Thank you for your reply and that's exactly how I feel too. I'm determined to make it through although I find my mind drifting off as I'm listening and I'm afraid I'll miss something important! Lol
....short of the sh*t weasels, it's kinda boring...and it is indeed sci-fi....the concept is great, but this was a swing and a miss for me....

First, Hi and welcome.
I read the book before I listened to the audio. It is a complex book. Trying to keep all the happenings straight- in compartments was an issue.
Try continuing and see if you can get into a rhythm with the characters and story.

I will definitely keep going. I'm bummed that it indeed is more of a Sci-Fi novel than horror, but I'm sure others have been too and I enjoyed them. I think Insomnia was a bit more Sci-Fi than Horror for sure. And then you have the whole Mr. Mercedes trilogy which is definitely more of a suspense/thriller genre (to me) than a horror genre along with Duma Key too. I'll just keep plugging along and hopefully I'll catch my groove just like I had to with Bag of Bones and Insomnia- neither of which were an INSTANT grab for me. Thanks so much!

I hit a wall around the same area. I loved the characters and their special psychic bond but it wasn't enough to hold my interest.
Welcome!

It's not a favorite of mine. But, it's a King novel and there are some things to love about it such as the bond between the four men and their own individual personalities. If I remember correctly this was the first novel Steve wrote after being hit by the van and he was in much pain. So, I cut him some slack for that. Don't watch the movie though- you'll have nightmares about Morgan Freeman's eyebrows. Just trust me.

If you've put that much time into it you ought to finish it. Read it for a chance to go back to Derry. If you're paying attention to that part you'll have a very good question. The ending is somewhat questionable by its own rules but that can be forgiven. Plus, if you've seen the movie, you'll actually be able to make a little more sense out of what was going on that was conveyed poorly or not at all on screen.

Hello!! Personally, it was one of my favorites. Ive read the book 3 times now. With that said, aliens and such are my favorite type of Syfy so this was right up my alley. Watched the film after the second read and I was pretty impressed at how well it followed the story. It was a little difficult for me to keep up with a bunch of the information the first time I read, hence why I went back and reread it the second time...but overall...I enjoyed it. Especially the sh*t weasels! I couldn't help but laugh at a lot of the imagery and unique wording in the book. I'm hoping you ended up enjoying it

Howdy Constant Reader 1238! I thought the book was great. Read it more than once. Maybe it's the person reading the book. My wife listens to the books on tape and I found that the reader makes a big difference. I would struggle through to the end then at least you can say you read the whole thing.
