I haven't read anything by Margaret Atwood but she was on the BBC and PBS news shows the other night doing interviews and promoting her new book. She is a no BS person. :) I loved the interviews, she was great. I'm going to have to read one of her books now.
I was lucky enough to see her speak at our local university. She was so interesting. Really intelligent. I loved her. And she said she would stay and sign books until the last person got one, and unfortunately, I could not stand in line. I had injured my back and there was just no way I could've done it. Just sitting listening to her was killing me. I had to go home.

Bums me out just thinking about it.

I've read The Handmaid's Tale and plan to read her sequel. I will eventually, but haven't watched Season 3 of the series yet as I'm still PO'd about the conclusion of Season 2. :glare:

Had a nice conversation with Margaret Atwood at the PEN awards a couple years ago but didn't discuss her books specifically. My daughter was very jealous and I got the Oh My God! when I told her about it.

It is a very unusual series. It feels more like an arthouse movie than a regular American series.

I watched 6 episodes, but to say it is bleak is an understatement. I'm still curious as to where it's going. I saw an earlier film adaptation of it, but don't remember it well. And I'm also not familiar with the novel.

I decided to try watching the Handmaid's Tale because my friends were into it, I read the book, and I met the author twice. Unfortunately, I didn't get past Season 2 Episode 1. I decided to stop watching because I read some spoilers.

Long story short, Offred keeps making stupid choices and getting herself recaptured. That's more frustrating for the viewer than it is for the actress.

One critic said the show should've ended after Season 1 . A lot of people seem to agree that the series has overstayed its welcome and should never have been renewed for a 4th season.

Handmaid's Tale is now my least favorite series of all time. Such a miserable, depressing, unwatchable show. I have actually heard some people comparing it to torture porn. How can anyone find that entertaining? Supernatural and Outlander are much better series, in my opinion.
