They do! why do they do that? I understand that new fans come into the fold and have never heard the stories. But come on! They are insulting.

I thought everyone we have seen interview him up to this point (there are still a couple I haven't seen -- The View and Colbert) have been vapid and embarrassing. They almost treat him like some silly joke.

Stephen, of course, is always courteous and affable. He is a patient scholar and gentleman when dealing with the public and these interviewers.

But, one minute they're hawking fermented skin care that if we order today we can save 10% -- and the next, they want us to see them as respected journalists -- practically yawning behind their hands and figuratively rolling their eyeballs and phoning it in when talking to one of the most successful writers of all time.

Okay. I'm a bit scratchy. I just don't think they give him the respect and the courtesy of actually doing some research to ask some new and improved questions.

I would really like a serious journalist to interview him. Not a fan boy or girl. Barbara Walters. I want Barbara Walters to interview Stephen.

DAMMIT! I want to know what kind of tree Stephen would be. (Okay, vapid. But son of a b****! at least it would be something different.) . Wait. Has he already been asked this? What was the answer?

Moderator -- could you please ask Stephen what kind of tree he would be?

Did anyone read the recent Telegraph review? Talk about insulting, in the UK we know that paper is a rag but come on. The interviewer blatantly tried to get Stephen to rag on Trump and the current political situation, I mean come on, talk about wanting a headline. What an absolute joke. I don't know why Stephen goes on that morning show in the US, he's literally done the exact same interview over six times. King deserves more respect. Critics have always disliked him though.

....I feel ya on the piss-poor interviewing....I finally learned years ago to come at the artist or celebrity from unexpected avenues, and it's amazing the response you get....they relax and you get some very candid answers and remarks....
Exactly. Take the road less travelled. For the most part, I would think it would be refreshing to the person as long as you stayed respectful and intelligent and it makes you as an interviewer stand out from the pack! Why is everyone so afraid of being unique and different and able to think for themselves?

....indeed.....I talk to them like I'd talk to someone sitting on my porch....

Colbert is one of the better interviewers. He often digs up old pictures or goes deeper into weirdness. This was the last time he was on (is he going on again for The Institute, Marsha?). Now, there is some political talk here as regards Twitter so.... Stephen's views are his own and you know this going in so, please, no talking about that part. It's the rest of it that is fun.

I agree on the quality of the interviews. I suppose it's tough to do a daily show and find unique things to ask...presumably the pre-interviews and mapping of the segments are done by young interns/producers, who in fairness may not know a lot about the subject. I could ask unique questions about someone with whom I am familiar, but most artists, I am not, so I guess I would fall into the same trap (King should write a story, even a horror one, about being asked the same questions over and over).

All of that being said, let's consider the following: if he does another interview in the future, even a year from now for the next book, maybe one of us should call the show doing it and suggest some questions. Or, for anyone on Twitter, maybe think of something unique and use that platform to reach him (in a recent post one suggestion I made is asking about his ghost experience that he mentioned once years ago).

It's official then - now just wait for another book to come out!
