Yesterday I (suddenly) went off tennis balls. My dogs were competing for the same ball at the dog park and collided, the chocolate lab (Ella) came off second-best. (the puppy, Mac--a Huntaway X--6 months old) is bigger than her now.
Ella ended up in a screaming heap and I had to carry her back to the car. She spent the day at the vet today having x-rays under sedation. Thankfully no broken bones, but the slides have shown how bad the arthritis in her elbows is.
She's on anti-inflammatories for 2 weeks, then as required.

This is a pic that the vet nurse sent me today when Ella was waking up after x-rays. (note the treats under her nose, they were trying to entice her to wake up :biggrin2: )

The pics below show how big Mac has gotten now. (the one of them on the grass was taken shortly before the accident)

Poor Ella!! I hope she gets well soon. Is Mac contrite? I am sure he misses her. Give him a pat for me and Ella a hug when shes well enough. Be brave Flake!!

Thanks so much everybody for your lovely wishes for the pups. Yes, Mac was feeling awful I could just see it in his eyes. And man, yes I got such a fright I thought she'd broken a leg for sure, it was so scary. I had to get a couple of kids walking past to help me with the gate and to hold Mac and help with getting my car unlocked.
She's home now and looking a lot more comfortable today. Still very lame on the left front leg but is putting it to the ground a bit more, so less lifting for me thank goodness!
Thanks again you guys, I appreciate it very much!

So thankful.
FlakeNoir you might consider something like this for down the line with any degree of hip or leg arthritis. Mackunya has a big dog and this device was a back saver.

Oh poor Ella!!! You must have been so worried. They are gorgeous dogs - that boy dog is some kind of handsome - and them sharing the stick - so cute!

Most of y'all know about what happened to my sweet Pearl in May. After going through that, I thought I would never have another dog.......but we visited the shelter over the weekend, and fell in love with this sweet little guy. Say hello to Snoopy

Here is a new pic of Lily. She is 10 weeks old now, we've had her a month and she is growing like a weed! She misses Scott terribly when he is at work, especially day shifts. But it is oh so cute to watch her get over the moon excited to see him when he gets home! She thinks she is a lap dog, but that is not going to work in another month the way she is growing!

What a doll baby she is!!! :love_heart:

If she is anything like our pup, her size will not change the fact that she thinks she's a lap dog. Csonka will plop down over both my daugther and me with parts hanging off both sides of us!! :D
