That's some great knowledge there, I don't think anyone knows Papa King's work better than you Marsha, you probably know more than Steve himself!Welcome to the Board!
Hearts in Atlantis is the first title that comes to mind but I would have to look back through it to see if the actual explanation for the peace symbol was in that one. Another possibility would be the non-fiction book Hearts in Suspension. Might be neither of those but I'm sure someone else can weigh in.
Not even close, but appreciate the compliment. That's some great knowledge there, I don't think anyone knows Papa King's work better than you Marsha, you probably know more than Steve himself!
I heard that somewhere that Steve can't remember writing Misery, don't know if that is true or not, but I so hope it is.Not even close, but appreciate the compliment.
It was Cujo he doesn't remember writing. That was in his heavy drinking days.I heard that somewhere that Steve can't remember writing Misery, don't know if that is true or not, but I so hope it is.
Ah, well, glad he kicked the habit, definitely something to be proud of.It was Cujo he doesn't remember writing. That was in his heavy drinking days.
....thanks Bev, that's the quote that I thought of as well.....At the end of Chapter 4 of the novella Hearts in Atlantis, Pete and his friends see a drawing that "looks like a sparrow-track" and he muses that "none of the three of us realized we had seen the peace sign for the first time" -- is that what you're looking for?
He talks about how he got sober in On Writing. It was an intervention by his family that got him into rehab and he's been a friend of Bill since.I'm curious. Was Steve an alcoholic and travelled up the steps, or just a guy who said "Whoa! I gotta quit this s**t!". I would think the latter, as he seems strong willed.
Was Bill his sponsor? He talks about how he got sober in On Writing. It was an intervention by his family that got him into rehab and he's been a friend of Bill since.
He actually recounted his accident in On Writing, as though it was a story of his in prose, pretty horrible stuff, but glad he was able to get to the other end, there was an interview back in '98 where Steve said all he wants is another decade of writing, well, he's had a few now, here is to the third! He talks about how he got sober in On Writing. It was an intervention by his family that got him into rehab and he's been a friend of Bill since.
Ummmmm.....not sure if you're kidding or serious and not familiar with the phrase "friend of Bill" as another way of saying someone is part of Alcoholics Anonymous. Was Bill his sponsor?
