I'm kidding. He sensed things and also went to comfort them which I'm sure at times wasn't so damn comforting when they are doing a crossword puzzle and the damn cat comes in.
"We need to open up the bed, Carl. Could we hurry this along?"

I like Robert Mitchum movies and this is one of the best ones I've seen. Robert Mitchum plays a middle aged criminal who got nailed for a crime and is looking at 3 years unless he cooperates with the feds. Which one of his low life friends is he going to turn on? Or, is he going to try to play the feds? I saw this one on The Criterion Channel. If you can find it, watch it.
Based on a novel by George V Higgins. I've never read Higgins but he seems highly thought of. Any Higgins readers out there that can comment?

Deej, have you watched "A Christmas Horror Story" on Netflix? If you haven't and do get a chance, it's worth a watch, just for the ending if nothing else. I'm usually pretty decent at predicting the ending of a movie, but I missed completely on this one, which is the main reason I liked it.

I just watched this. And it was just loaded with familiar faces and familiar character actors. THe soundtrack laid down some righteous funky beats!
It cracked me up that the
bank robbers were like The Supremes or something. Everyone had to wear the same mask to a particular crime. Bwhahaha! What happens if Artie forgets which mask to wear and shows up off script? And buying new guns for every single robbery was whack! Not only costly, but the risk of buying them, paying for them, obtaining them every single time -- that's just too much effort.
Like Scalise at one point said, if he needed to, he would just reuse a gun from a previous robbery and dump it in the river. The only gun that needed to be gotten rid of was the murder weapon. All the others were clean, so why keep buying them?
Robert Mitchum was a dumb criminal in this one. Not used to seeing him weaker.
Good recommend. Criterion is loaded with great films.

It's great, a terrific cast. Based loosely on the Stephen Knight book Jack The Ripper ; The Final Solution. A Study In Terror is another Ripper/Holmes movie that you might enjoy.
