I bought myself a plastic model. It's a Plymouth Fury and it is called "Christine". I could not find any Stephen King brand on it but there was a trademark stamp from Columbia pictures, licensing the Plymouth Fury name from the Chrysler Group (now Daimler?). They definitely mean Stephen King's "Christine" but I find it odd that there is no mention of him at all on the box or the instructions. I guess it falls under the rights sold for the movie where the movie folks can partner up with a toy model maker and cut their own deal.

Anyway, my plan is to build this model over the next few months. I will place several drops of my blood in the read paint and paint a few hairs into the back seat. Once done and time moves on and I am no longer of this world I foresee a day when some intergalactic travellers will read this post and, just for ****s and giggles, hunt down this model, extract my D.N.A. clone me, and we'll have some beers.

I hope you post a pic of it when it's completed.

Sounds like a neat idea. Yes, pictures of the progress.

I don't think Stephen King would have a copyright on a brand of car that came out in 1958 or would he have a copyright on a name, although everyone knows that it refers to his book and the movie. So the studio that owns the license to the movie can sell the rights to the model company without King's approval, or that's what I'd think would happen. Also, as far as I can tell, this is the only Stephen King related model kit that is available.
