You all got it wrong..... This tuesday is Semla tuesday.
semla_0.jpg

It is associated with shrove tuesday which, i am told, occurs tomorrow. Taste good but they are dangerous. They have a filling with almond cream and things. My mind is saying eat one but my stomach is saying dont even think about but considering how bad i am at resisting temptations i think the outcome is a given.

I have a good chicken soup story - was going to Burger King to get a free coffee/tea as I had a coupon. Saw this big orange carrot waving at everyone (guy inside a carrot suit). This was just after my Tai Chi class and I was feeling pretty sickly.

So I went in there and ordered a bowl of their homemade chicken noodle soup. - (with taxes it came to $7.33) :icon_eek:

I asked if they had crackers - no.

They gave me a plastic spoon at least :m_noodles:

I actually had to go over and look on a shelf, buy my own bag of crackers (some rice crackers with seeds, gluten free) [not that I have a sensitivity to wheat but those were the cheapest ones] - the crackers cost $5.49.

So overall around 13 bucks for a bowl of soup - at least I had some crackers to take home.

It did seem to help however - they said they make their chicken stock from scratch (no mix) and with fresh ingredients.

I had no idea that organic food was so expensive - not sure if I will venture back there again :greedy_dollars:
That was a mighty expensive free coffee/tea

They are called Berliner in my neck of the woods. It's a traditional Carnival treat. I read a couple of days ago that during lent no eggs were aloud so you had to use them before. Lent starting on Wednesday right? Time to think what you wanne give up.

I cooked fresh beets last night for dinner. Forgot that I have to go for a total workup at the lab and an EKG today.
So me and my weird looking specimen bottles have to be there at 10am. Not going to tell them I ate beets, wanna
watch them run around with that crazed look on their faces. That should shake up there Monday. I will eventually tell them
before I walk out the door.

Here's a quick story I remembered when I posted about my favorite meal last night....

I didn't know I was keyed up on the police radio one rainy afternoon and apparently I was singing to myself out loud "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head"...badly, so so badly for about 20 seconds before I got a cell phone call from one of my colleagues who let me know about it. I was a bit nervous about it thinking I was going to be crucified by my shift about it. But it was ok, because like the true professionals they were, they let it go until about 10 minutes before my shift was over around 11pm. I'm heading to the clock to punch out and then, over the loud speaker at the PD guess what I hear? "And now, by request, here's Mr. Hill doing his rendition of BJ Thomas' classic "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head". It was the shift supervisor who decided to play DJ after one of the other idiots I worked with went and had dispatch make a copy of the radio traffic then took it to him. It sounded much, much worse when played back than it did while I was singing it. It's humbling when you hear two entire shifts of police department workers collectively start laughing hysterically. For the next, oh I don't know, year or so, I would periodically be asked to sing that little ditty in inappropriate places like....squad meetings, briefings, interviews for promotion, etc. I would also get the lyrics to the song printed out and taped to my locker a lot...lol

Yeah, I don't have a singing voice AT ALL. I'm pretty sure I've never sang out loud since that day and for good reason..lol

Yup I did it. They took the specimen bottles from me and one by one the lady called the other technicians in and when they came out
they were trying not to stare at me. I had my sunglasses on, so they couldn't tell I was seeing all this. One of them came over and
asked me to come with her and she took me to this room with a cot in it and said I should lay down. Then another one came in and
drew blood and another came in with a blanket. Then they did the EKG. Told me to stay there. I feel asleep. :facepalm_smiley: Woke up and my
doctor came in and asked me how I was feeling and I told him 'feeling peachy Doc'. Then he said there was a problem with
my specimens and then I asked him if eating beets had any thing to do with it? He looked at me for a few seconds and then just
burst into laughter. :) Everytime he tried to say something he started laughing again. Finally he said go home, you are fine. Just
as I was opening the door he told me my sense of humour was fine too. :heheh:
That was fun! Now how am I going to top that one :hmm:

Good morning,

We had a stressful weekend. Everything was going along fine until I went through the mail. We had a letter from corporate HR that stated as of 2/12 Scott had been put on reduced hours status at work and so bye-bye health insurance. Letter went on to say it was time to sign up for COBRA. And as an added bonus, the letter itself was dated after the 12th.

Of course it is the weekend so we had hell trying to get someone to answer what the heck was going on. Scott was approved for short term disability at 100% for 6 months. It has been 3...and the policy changed as of January to 3 months.

Turns out that corporate gets 2 lists, active employees and inactive...but the inactive list does not tell the reason, all they see is that they are getting paid for not working. So instead of finding out, they just automatically send these letters out. Brilliant freaking policy!!

Anyway, we are ok. The local HR person is handling it today. I imagine we are going to have to have all claims since the 12th resubmitted though. Which is more than slightly irritating. Why can't these people make a simple phone call and make sure what they are doing is correct before dropping all benefits?!?

I swear, I had a serious freak out and if I could have gotten someone on the phone, it would not have been good for the person on the other end.

That is my weekend story! Sheesh.

Hope you all have a great day. Big hugs and positive vibes to all! :love_heart:

(((Cat))) Very happy it all worked out in your favor in the end but completely understand the frustration. A simple phone call would have saved them a lot of work that it's now taking to fix it so you would think they'd do that first. My guess is that they don't want to have to deal with the upset employees when they get the bad news.
