Actually no...

Hi Avi, I have absolutely no problem with people expressing displeasure over work associated with Stephen.... at least not until someone makes (wild) assumptions based completely without fact. (how on earth could you possibly know what is inside his mind? Or the minds of the rest of the Production team?)
But feel free to dislike the show and to choose not to watch, I wouldn't expect every body to like it. :)
Well...I won't claim to know what's in their minds but I can say one thing: I'm dying, positively DYing, to know what's going to happen to Barbie in Season 2. I've run through my mind various ways that he could be believably freed from his extreme quandary of about to be hanged; but unfortunately I can come up with nothing realistic. I'm not a writer though. I'm a paramedic, who apparently can't even write about my own profession without an editor telling me it's "not believable."
Incidentally he told me something wasn't believable that actually happened but never mind.
I'm positively dying to know how they're going to come up with a beLIEVable way to get Barbie out of that quandary without Junior pulling the lever since at the end of the show his hand's already on it itching to make Dale Barbara swing.

You'd have to have a more inside understanding of how Hollywood works to really "get" why the changes were made. It had nothing to do with capitulating to women's groups. He didn't even write the scripts for the first season. You are making assumptions that have no basis in fact.
I'm just starting to watch this on Amazon and I thought there was changes; however, if it's going to be a series you can't very well go by the book. :victorious:

TBH I was disappointed in the series - the character of Barbie was changed from reluctant hero to bad boy with a heart and the casting was poor IMO - the book on the other hand was the best Steve had written in a while and was excellent :)
I think I will still watch Season Two nevertheless but yes - the book was SO much better. I am actually looking forward to the new season so I can see just how different it is!

Well, I didn't like it at first but after he made that comment about another famous author whose work they changed in movies saying that "if you want the original story the book is on the shelf and nothing in it has changed." The author said that to a journalist who questioned him about his movies being different from his books.
Also, I watched the whole first season and somehow it worked so I gained confidence after seeing it work.
Sometimes I do have to see things to really believe it; seeing is believing.

I was most upset about Angie and Joe being brother and sister but that also worked in the series.

That's what I thought he was in the book too. Tough guy (or bad boy) with a heart, but maybe I'm just biased because my brother went to Iraq and he acts in a similar way. He looks tough and makes people nervous (because of how he looks) but he has a big heart on the inside.

I thought the show was terrible. Loved the book. I understand there will be changes and creative license given to the director/producer... but this was just borrowing King's name, title of the novel, and character names to hook people. In reality, its just a crummy story written by amateurs.

Its his right, but I really wish SK was a lot more selective with his material. There has been a lot of garbage tossed out there with his name on it. Worse yet, masses think thats King's work. I had to explain to a number of people last year that the novel was actually good and the show barely resembles it. I dont need a carbon copy. The Shining was much different, yet is a great movie.

I forced myself through 4 or 5 episodes. Just couldn't take it any more. It was a bad show. It was apparent it was hastily and sloppily written and filmed. They cheesed up the characters and the plot a great deal. The acting was terrible. One huge draw of SK's work is the plausible actions of the characters as well as motivations, etc. The characters in this show just weren't plausible. Couldnt get into it.
I have a feeling that if it lacked the "Stephen King" billing, this show would have died a quick and silent death.
