Also noticed that the uncut (1990) version of the Stand is somewhere around 1152 pages. The version I bought is 1439 pages. Is this the same as the 1990 version?

I suppose I'll start the book, just really hope it isn't ruined. I was so upset after reading that back cover and getting so invested.
The difference in page numbers has to do with the size of the book and the font choice, not the actual text of the novel.

I had read the back, but also found a spoiler online. Sorry for the confusion. Ha!

Everyone here is so friendly. It's just a grand surprise. Hats off to all of you.

Hi, Love_gun. I am a recent SKMB member, and I would suggest that you read both versions. I found it really interesting to see the differences between the originally published somewhat decimated version, and then the added riches of the real unabridged version.
I guess you will have finished the book by now, but it's worth re reading both versions. So, did you find that the spoiler had any effect on your enjoyment of the book?

Absolutely read the book. Follow the journey of the characters, see what brought about that spoiler. Remember, it's all about the journey, not the ending.
***and is that the ending of the character in the spoiler?

Absolutely this. One thing about The Stand is that it isn't really about the ending. The book is about the characters and what happens to them on the way.

Read the uncut version. To not read about "the kid" would b a shame and if u read the cut version you will never know about him. No it definitely doesn't ruin it bc the statement isn't exactly even correct. Have at it. Personally my 5th favorite book of his. Most constant readers will probably have it ranked even higher.

Hello, while I was recently researching which version of the Stand to purchase (the 1978 original or 1990 uncut) I accidently and innocently stumbled across a spoiler. Seeing this angered me as I was really looking forward to the book, the plot look absolutely intriguing.

The spoiler was this:
Randall Flagg dies/disappears somewhere in the novel

Is the novel ruined? Can I still read it with enjoyment?

Oh, this novel is so epic and amazing that one small line will not spoil a thing--even if it's true (and I am not saying it is).
