How come there's no section for the Dead Zone TV series that ran from 2002-2007? I kinda stumbled upon it while browsing IMDB and see that it starts Anthony Michael Hall as Johnny.

Is it that bad that it wouldn't get its own section under TV? Or is it because it got cancelled before it ended?

I also wanted to see if anyone here has seen it and if it's worth checking out.

...it was a good series, but didn't hew closely to the book....

Basically, because Stephen was not involved with the series. It's the same reason no sequels to anything are listed.

Not surprised about the sequels, every one I have ever checked out was beyond terrible.

It wasn't bad -- they took the concept and ran with it. The same people were responsible for Haven.

Haven? As in Tommyknockers? Did they make a series out of that too? Or does this take place before or after the book?

We watched it and liked it. The first few seasons were the best and then, yeah, it started dragging on us. We didn't see the whole series. But what we saw was entertaining.
Imagine that instead of shooting Greg Stillson and getting killed, Johnny and Greg are alive and have yet to encounter, but when they start to, look out, and with Johnny's abilities recognized by some, including the local sheriff, who is married to Johnny's pre-coma love interest, Sarah, who has a kid.... well, anyway, I don't know how all that sounds, but it was executed well.

The toughest part for me was identifying the lead actor, who did a good job, as the kid in Weird Science and Vacation.

Show was great for the first four seasons and then it limped to the finish line. It's a prime example of a series that needed to be given an end date so things could be resolved properly. Sadly, that did not happen.

It was OK overall but I though it was kind of hit or miss when it came to individual episodes. And it was corny at times. I usually suggest people not even bother with it because just when things are really getting good (or good again) with Johnny and Stillson the show was cancelled. And apparently they didn't get the memo until it was too late because the show didn't wrap up any loose ends. In fact I believe it ended on a cliffhanger.

I liked the series a lot, and every season had redeeming episodes. I liked how the series only deferred the ending we've all come to expect. We'll never know if that were still ultimately going to happen even though the circumstances did change a lot. At one point they even included the conspiracy theory that Bin Laden was on kidney dialysis .....
