I'm talking about IMSA, which is like NASCAR, only the cars are different, and they turn both left and right on track.
If you've always wanted to be a race car fan, but held back because you didn't know which car to root for, I have solved your dilemma.

My boyfriend, Kevin, is on the pit crew for Turner MotorSports; he is the tire specialist, which evidently requires a math degree, as well as a great deal of dedication to tires.

Right now, they 3rd in the points with two races to go. Next week, they will be at Laguna Seca in California, with Jens Klingman and Jesse Krohn behind the wheel. The race will be live from 5:00-8:00PM EST on Sunday, 9/24 on Fox Sports 1. They took second last race, so this time they are hoping to bring home P1. Kevin can often be seen on TV because he holds the sign for the car and grabs the discarded tires. The car's number is 96.

If anyone plays the X Box game, Forza 5, you can actually check out the Laguna Seca track. It has several elevation changes and tricky turns. Although, this isn't the one shown below, the Turner car is in this game. You will often see it on the track with you, and I guess there is some way that you can download and drive it. (This green one is called a Lamborghini Miura)

Note* I am not good at this game!

I used to watch NASCAR in high school and my family were diehard fans of Dale Earnhardt and Bobby Allison. We watched as a family every Sunday, big bowl of chili, lots of yelling and laughing.
Yea, that's not surprising! (I think racing is a pretty big thing in the South ;;D)
You will be coming to the Kon this year, right? I'm excited to meet you and everyone else!

One of the few good memories I have with my dad was NASCAR racing. Richard Petty was my fave, and dad worked for a short time in Cale Yarborough's pit crew. One of my most vivid memories was when Cale and Bobby Allison wrecked each other and got into a fist fight in the infield.....racing has sure changed since I was a kid.....

I am currently being told about that fight right now. Kevin tells me that was the first ever NASCAR broadcast on live TV! What did your dad do in the pit?

If Fortune smiles on me, I'm wanting to attend. This time when in Bangor I want to see King's house and the Standpipe. Last trip I spent too much time in Acadia National Park and driving around looking for the house featured in Pet Sematary. It is in Ellsworth. Do we know who will definitely be coming?

As of now, we have a fairly definitive list, as well as a few possiblys. I think it's somewhere in the Kon thread. IMHO I also think you'd enjoy taking part in the Halloween Story this year. I know you're up to the task...(creatively speaking)

With my love of Japanese animation and Korean TV series, you could say I am something of an Asians fan.

Oh, not what you meant...

I am not into racing, but I always pray that all the participants (and the fans) end safe. I'll be doing that for him and all the other pilots at that race.

I'm also an Asian fan, considering that I get my paychecks from companies in China!

Laguna Seca. Laguna Seca. Now there's a name I've not heard in a long time. Since Gran Tourismo 3 on the PS2. Before the PS2 packed in. Before the dark times. :D

Seriously, I hated that track. IIRC there was (maybe still is) a chicane just over that long climb (or a sudden tight left-hand corner, maybe). Bloody thing got me all the time, even when I took an F1 car round it (and those things drive like they're glued to the track). Even worse than Monaco, IMO.

We have that PS2 set up with an actual seat of a car and a steering wheel. (Takes up too much room in the living room IMO)
