I am still reading the book for the first time, so please be careful about spoilers. I am normally very good about being able to visualize whatever King describes, cause he does a great job. And i'm sure he does with the dam too... but I just can't picture what it looks like.
Right now i'm on the chapter where bill, ben, eddie, stu and richie build the dam out of boards and rocks, then they go to the junkyard for sheet metal and tires to reinforce it.
...I'm having a hard time picturing what is happening though. Is the river being diverted? are the banks of the river very high, so it's just swelling? is the dam very high? At first I thought it was only a foot or so high... but it sounds like it's having a big effect.
and i think earlier in the book King said what kind of dam Ben had inadvertently designed, having never seen one before...but I can't find the reference.
