I bought a case of generic cola because it was 12 for 1.99;

then I saw a segment of a show called Hack My Life where they recommended pouring it into your toilet, giving it a good brushing, then rinsing the brush by flushing a couple of times.

Worked like a charm!

After reading what you said about the ‘dark soda’ I don’t think I’ll bother drinking the stuff. On the rare occasion I drink soda (we call it “pop”) I’ll have a small glass of ginger ale.

I’m of the opinion that food is like medicine. Eat healthy and feel healthy. Don’t want to sound like a fanatic (I was worse when I was younger) but it does help to eat well and take care of your body.

Hope your hubby is doing much better now! :) :tickled_pink:

Yes! Much better!

Hi Tet-mates - I did not go to work today. Called the boss and left a message at her office at 3 in the morning regarding my problem with pain management.

I can't take Tylenol 3 much with codeine as it has bad side effects. Just took some Tylenol. Not sure why but have had some joint pain on the left side in my shoulder, knee and ankle. [could have something to do with the fact I had shingles in my left hip a few years back - hope it goes away soon!]

Have to go pick up Josh at work as we need to buy a case of bottled water and some other food items, etc. Then we need to go to the bank before it closes.

So far I've done a load of laundry, made a vegetable and brown rice soup (need to buy another litre box of chicken stock for that), and moved that bird feeder from the garage to the yard (Mr. Raccoon seems to have found somewhere else to scavenge).

I feel great about getting my Christmas cards out last night - mostly they are going to the US so I hope there's enough time for them to get there before the deadline.

Up here it says any mail dropped off by December 22nd will be sent on its way, but probably won't get processed until the 27th.

I might have cut it a bit close with my two cards sent to Europe :blush:

I know I sent those last week but I can't remember which day {maybe the 7th?}

- hope they both get where they're going before Xmas (I see Christmas falls on a Monday, so I figure they have to get there by the 22nd at the latest). :onthego:

Everyone should visit a dialysis center--its a stop gap from death but it certainly isn't life. It's a slow slog through hell. Four hours three days a week sometimes four--and you don't feel any better than when you get up. You muscles bunch up like sacks of little pebbles from dehydration, muscle cramps, anemia from hell. Many patients die in the chair from a heart attack from too much fluid, sodium, potassium or phospherous (in dark soda). I got the message early when a nurse put ten pounds of fluid on my chest and said, "This is what happens when you give him too much to drink--it has no where to go." It made me more conscious of keeping my kidneys healthy.

A kidney transplant has not been all fruit loops and rainbows --as there is always the risk of infection from every virus and bacteria under the sun. It made me learn how very hard our immune systems fights off a myriad of viruses, mold spores and bacteria that would kill us in an instant. And we are oblivious.

This fall my husband had a virus and pneumonia that killed AIDS patients in the 80's while battling sepsis at the same time. I bow down to the human immune system and the little white haired infectious disease Dr. Goddess who saved my husband's life by using the big scary drugs.

I wake up every day and I am grateful.

Yes, dialysis sucks.

SwiftDad was in end stage kidney failure for the last two years of his life. 3 visits a week for 4.5 hours a whack for those two years.

Disagreements beteeen medical teams kept him from getting on the transplant list. Those 2 years were a low point for the SwiftDog clan.

My FIL also did this for the last year of his life. It was pretty miserable.

Wouldn't it be great if they could grow a new kidney in the lab? Maybe something like that will be available in the future :smile2:

Speaking of liking a book--I am SO LOVING Sleeping Beauties!!!!! Well drawn characters, I love them all--I care about them --LOVE LOVE LOVE EVIE--SUCH A SNARK IN HER VOICE (AUDIO BOOK) and talk about tension--tension now on both freaking sides omg--best book ever. And very educational for a writer Well done King and Son! You know that commercial where the husband keeps on making excuses (forgot the shrimp, wrong pie etc ) just so he can drive the new car? That is me because I can't wait to get back to this story!

It was 36 this morning in OKC. Too cold to go out and walk, I decided. I went back in and looked out the window to see my 85 year old neighbor on his bicycle. I guess that's why he's 85. I layered up and trudged on out there. Maybe I will be out there inspiring someone in 30 years.
