*PLEASE NO STORY SPOILERS, I'M ONLY HALF WAY THROUGH THE STORY!*

This text is found in the story Big Driver:

"Tess herself had heard rumors about the psychiatric misadventures of a male novelist who had been a chart staple for years with his tales of lusty derring-do."

Is this a reference to a real author and his mental instabilities? Just curious if anyone knows! I tried to google, but it's difficult to do so with only a phrase.

Good question.

I still want to know which author inspired “Dedication”. Didn’t someone ask that a while ago?
They did and Steve said he couldn't remember off the top of his head. He would need to re-read the story, but has had too many other things on his to do list that have taken priority so we may never know the answer to that question.

If you have not read Big Driver, you should - I read it back in 2014 in Ohio while on vacation - the whole Full Dark, No Stars book is quite good!
Hi Neesy, I've read them all. Most more than once. With a few exceptions (the newer ones like 'Gwendys Button Box' and that 60's University retrospective). Big Driver had me on the edge of my seat. The movie was okay but it wasn't the book.

That 60's one was Hearts in Atlantis - not bad - I enjoyed it.

The Big Driver TV movie/show was actually pretty good too.

Yes, you're right - not as good as the book, but still pretty well done.

I happen to like Maria Bello and Olympia Dukakis

It could be based (however loosely) on Sidney Sheldon who was a chart staple for years with his tales of lusty derring-do and suffered from severe bipolar.

i loved tess's strength. and that she was able to seek vengeance. and that it worked out that way. gives a person a sense of peace and justice you know? how many of us have wanted to do the same to those who have hurt us or ones we love. if only it could be real life. i love this story. i shed tears.

ive seen there was a movie but the story was so graphic and intense idk if i could watch the movie! with the whole **** scene? this story made me feel justice.. im tess and i felt every ounce of her anger.. her passion. i wish every story like hers could end with vengeance. i wish i could thank SK personally for writing this story! im sure it touched so many readers. this story brought tears to my eyes. i bought the book as well recently. i love it even though all the stories are pretty dark its a great book. and Big Driver..will always have a special place in my heart.

Hi Brittney, There is nothing like a good revenge story. It's uplifting. Sometimes turning the other cheek is not an option. Sometimes you need closure and you can't always count on Karma balancing things out. I'm glad Sai King did not ruin it by adding a negative ending to Tess's ordeal and reinforcing the commonly held notion that revenge is bad. All the best, mal
