I’m about as classy as boxed wine… which, in fact, is my preference. A box of Almaden White Zinfandel currently sits in my fridge. A fresh, drinkable wine with a pleasing taste… and most importantly… convenient. Turn the knob, the wine pores into the glass, shut the knob off… no mess, no hassle, easy peasy lemon squeezy. I always have about 10 good quality domestic and imported bottles of wine (white, red, and rosé ) on hand for guests, but if I’m in the mood to drink wine, it’s a box of white zinfandel I go to.

Ah, the boxes. We enjoy Bota Box. For white, the chardonnay, chilled, is quite palatable, particularly on a hot day. For red, we like the Bota old vine zinfandel.

If there's anyone who associates "zinfandel" with the sweet rosé of a "white zinfandel," no. A red zin is quite different. I consider myself to have catholic tastes, but I can't do sweet wine very well.

I have a question - why did they put a sugar cube in the glass of champagne in the movie Moonstruck when toasting the engagement?

That was the first time I had seen that done.

I know - not wine (going off on a bit of a tangent) :tounge:

I will never drink White Port... ever again. We were 17 years old… me and the gang on a Friday night. We were listening to Frank Zappa and heard the lyrics:

The W is the White,
The P is the Port,
The L is the Lemon,
The J is the Juice
White Port & Lemon Juice,
White Port & Lemon Juice,
White Port & Lemon Juice,
Ooh what it do to you!
Well I…

So we thought let’s give it a try. Each of us got a bottle (connections to get alcohol at that time was easy). About a half hour after we finished our bottles it hit each of us like an upper-cut from Joe Frazier. Never before, or since, have I been so drunk, so totally passed out, and sick as a dog as with white port wine. I swore I would never drink it again… and haven’t.
